Tomorrow All Nite

Sometimes I feel like I've landed on Bizarro World, because if you're willing to believe the Kiss hardcores from all over this planet, then a large number of them seem to have a hardened aversion to Love Gun's lighthearted and joyful anthem Tomorrow and Tonight (1977).

The main reason for this, to me, puzzling rejection is generally a perceived too-great similarity to a kinda title-related piece called Rock and Roll All Nite (1975). Well, if that doesn't sound like a case for yours truly, I don't know what does. But I'd better turn off the siren and take off my fireman's helmet anyway.

And that’s a good thing, because these two carefree songs don’t really have anything in common, neither in melody nor in song structure, except perhaps for one small detail in that little line of lyrics in the chorus, which suggests that instead of rocking all night and partying every day, it’s better to rock all day and rock just as much at night.

And perhaps, moreover, if Rock and Roll All Nite is unlikely to go down in music history as a masterpiece of sophisticated composition, then Tomorrow and Tonight certainly won’t either.

And that was it actually.

Anyway, my fellow Kiss enthusiasts, My personal recommendation would simply be to forget all this silly head-driven flim-flam, and to listen to your guts, because Tomorrow and Tonight is pretty much the best song for getting into the after-work or weekend mood whilst listening to the radio, on the way to the nearest lake or beach. If you just let it.

Perhaps all these grumblers are just city folk… or non-swimmers.
