The disappearance of Stacy Peterson.
In October 2003, 49 year old police sergeant Drew Peterson married for the 4th time,this time to a woman 30 years his junior, 19 year old Stacy Ann Cales. Stacy changed her last name to Peterson and the couple had 2 children together. During this time, (2002-2004) Drew was still having troubles with his 3rd wife Kathleen Savio. Police were called to her residence multiple times, usually because of domestic troubles in regards to their two sons. In March 2004, Savios body was found in a drained bathtub and her death was ruled as an accidental drowning. On October 29, 2007, Stacy was reported missing after failing to contact her sister as planned. When questioned about the disappearance ,Drew claims that Stacy had called him the night before to tell him had left him for another man. Suspicion arose around the case and the decision to exhume the body of Kathleen Savio was made. A forensic examination was made in November, 2007,the procedure concluded Savio had drowned with struggle. Copious amounts of bruising and scraping were found on her back and torso, as well as a large gash on her head. The death was now classed as a homicide made to look accidental and Drew was the main suspect. In the court case, a local pastor testified against Drew claiming that Stacy had come to him around the time of Savio’s death to confide in him. She had apparently told him that the night of Savio’s death, Drew came home in the possession of woman’s clothing and simply told her to lie about it if she was ever asked. Stacy had also admitted to him that the alibi she produced for Drew on the night of Savio’s death was a lie and in February, 2013, Drew was found guilty of Murder and sentenced to 38 years in prison. In February, 2015, Drew was charged with two more felonies after a fellow inmate had come forward saying that Drew had asked him if he knew where to get someone to kill the attorney who had sentenced him for Savio’s murder. The inmate testified against him also claiming that he once referred to Stacy as a “dead woman” in one of their conversations. Drew was found guilty of solicitation of murder and solicitation of murder for hire, and gained an additional sentence of 40 years imprisonment.
To this day Stacy’s case is still classed as a missing person. Her whereabouts , or whether she is still alive is still unknown and it is unlikely that the case will ever be solved due to lack of hard evidence.
