Really shitty day so let's talk more about Tea. This one is the Organic Mother's Little Helper (lol) from David's Tea in the David's Top 12 sampler. I thank drhicks76 for this because on a day like today, I need this and the warmth of him that it makes me think of.

Blurb

Need a little relaxation? Try running for the shelter of this mother's little helper. One sip and you'll feel like you've spent the day at the spa. This tea is an herbal infusion with peppermint, lemongrass, hibiscus, rosehips, chamomile, valerian root, cornflowers and natural peppermint flavoring.

I would note that I may not be fully fair to this tea because Chamomile does not rub me the right way most of the time.

Leaf Scenting

There is no doubt when you smell this for the first pass that there is peppermint and lemongrass present. Peppermint has that normal minty smell, but the lemongrass is a pungent, tart, citrusy scent that hovers in the air better than mint. Honestly, probably a good strewing herb. I have to really focus to pick out the chamomile here, and rosehips never were too pungent in my opinion, so that is very sedate. Really the best description is that we're dealing with a minty-tart flavor. Very pleasant and yet somehow light and clearing to the nose.

Brewed Scenting

The rosehips and hibiscus become more evident here, having a distinctive, almost fruity scent to them. Still, said scent is made tart by the lemongrass, which makes me excited. At the same time the mint has stepped back, smelling as more the equivalent of a fresh aftertaste.

Tasting

For all that the mint has stepped back in the scent, it's still prevelent in the taste. It mixes well with the rosehip and hibiscus base to make something fruity but fresh on the palate. The lemongrass leaves the mind boggling for a moment because of the tang and the way it leaves your tongue tingling. The tingling remains but the lemongrass taste itself rolls back over your tongue until it's gone, leaving only a fresh, mint taste that isn't overwhelming. Very well put together. I can't even pick out the chamomile which makes this lovely for me.

Blurb

An incredible bestselling chai made of rooibos, coconut, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and red peppercorns. There and artificial flavors are the only listed ingredients for this tea. It is, of course, caffeine free.

Leaf Scenting

This coconut and peppercorns together control the scent at this point. It makes for a strangely clean, almost soapy scent. A careful bit of attention can pick up the hint of of cinnamon and deeper still is the rich, almost roasted scent of the rooibos. Cardamon leads to a slightly higher, harder to notice zing to the combination bringing true spice to the creation.

Brewed Scenting

The coconut and peppercorn are still top dogs here. But the cinnamon has grown more pungent. Other than that things have stepped back, leaving little of note changed from above.

Tasting

Peppercorns are at the fore here, with the coconut taking a step back for the cinnamon. There is some of hte richness of the cardamom moving forward. The rooibos here is just a quiet backdrop for the settiing of this tea. The ginger is just a finishing bit of bite that makes things wonderful.

Blurb

It looks all normal when it's loose. But steep it and you'll see that it's nuts - a hint of beetroot turns it a crazy shade of pink. This caffeine free fruit infusion is composed of apple, almonds, cinnamon, beetroot and artificial flavorings.

Leaf Scenting

Amusingly enough, there is no leaves to speak of for this. A lot of my herbals have something to add to them, but this is the nuts and fruit. If I had to give this a characterizing scent, it's the sort of smell of an apple filed breakfast bar? Sort of oaty but fruity at the same time? Which is funny because there is no oat to speak of. But you CAN pick up on the cinnamon. Maybe that's what is doing it for me. And there is definitely some nut, just a hint, in the background.

Brewed Scenting

We do indeed get that pink color. Just to say. Now, the scent here is more cinnamon, and it's changed slightly. Like candied nights maybe? But less sweet. Or... There was this snack cake that was oats but shapd sorta like a pumpkin and filled with apple with little eyes and a smile cut out. That is what this smells like. Or fresh baked cinnamon apples. So good.

Tasting

The first flavor is of cinnamon. It's not a long, lingering thing. No, it's a sudden and subtle burst that almost immediately steps aside, yielding the floor to the taste of apples. Almond steps in a few moments later, a taste to linger after on the tongue. I really like it. Almost a little like... well, apple jacks. In a very good way.
