Haguregumo, a long running manga, is getting a new 8-episode live adaptation on NHK in January.
This is not a historically accurate production and it's not meant to be. It's a (silly) family drama in which historical figures intersect with the main characters but don't take center stage to the story.
In this one, Okita Soji and Okada Izo get to have a meal together (not in the picture above, obviously, but that's Hauregumo's Soji).

I found this film so charming. Watching a working class couple struggling with life's up and downs and being able to find love and comfort in each other came as very honest and warm. It was a big contrast to all these ~goals~ couples (young rich beautiful) social media is filled with.
