Samoyeds have been called out, so what about their quieter cousins: eurasiers?

Ah, yes. The gateway drug. The Enabler.

A vaguely named and vaguely described dog from somewhat obscure origins that will make a perfect family pet no matter the situation. We can’t point out exactly what makes them better suited than gross/wolfspitz or samoyeds or chows but they are, trust them! They’re just so perfect.

Certainly not an agent hiding in plain sight. Probably hasn’t tallied all your silverware and assessed your funds. Most likely not readying your household for a fully coordinated Spitz occupation. 

Perfectly trustworthy, I’m sure. Not too good to be true, even in the slightest.

If you can handle camping in a caravan with me and said pack, at dog shows. Also happy to cook

all my holidays growing up were caravan or camping trips, I can do that!

I haven't seen group yet but people always complain about GSD at Crufts. This year, before the dogs went into the big ring, they were vet checking us! They had a strip of the carpet and made us move the dogs up and down in front of a vet to check it wasn't lame. Not really a ~vet check~ but it was something they apparently never did before. It was only because of the whole thing last year!

Oh, thank you so much for the info! I’d heard they had incorporated some sort of checkup after everything went down last year, but couldn’t find sources on exactly what they were doing. I wouldn’t mind them going even further with it (before the group at least), and it’s a bit of a shame it’s come to it, one would think a lame dog would be plucked off in the initial judging anyway. But hey, at least they’re doing something!

And congratulations on the BOB!  I don’t remember if I commented on the Eurasier specifically, but he did a great job representing his breed!

More spitz for the breed thing~ Samoyeds, Eurasiers and Japanese Spitz!

Samoyeds already answered.

Eurasiers came up briefly when a friend’s fiance wanted a “wolfy looking” dog that wasn’t a husky or wolfdog or GSD. I had suggested samoyed and he found eurasiers and decided that’s what he wants. My friend has yet to decide if that’s the kind of dog she’s willing to live with long term before she gives him the approval, since she is the one who will be doing the bulk of the work to care for this dog while her fiance just wants a cool looking dog to look at when he gets home.

Sadly, I have no personal experience with them outside of looking up the breed to see if my friend actually wanted to consider them as a viable option or not.

By “Japanese Spitz” I’m assuming you mean the little white dog that’s effectively an American Eskimo and not the legions of Nihon Ken types. I actually know nothing about them besides the fact that they are little white dogs that look like American Eskimos and are not directly related to the Nihon Ken- they’re pretty uncommon here!
