Rudy hadn't really seen or heard much of anyone lately. Lucille had dropped off the face of the earth and no matter how many times he showed up at the local bar he couldn't find her. He knew it was a stupid thing but she was the only woman that had shown the least bit of interest in him. Yeah, Veronica had said Hi and they were becoming friends but there was no way anything was going to happen in that department. Friends was all that was ever going to amount to. And he was fine with that. At least he thought he was, but he had to admit to himself he was getting lonely.
He had been in Faulkner for a whole two years and hadn't really made any connections with a single person. He was more friendly with the staff at Betty's simply because he was there all the time. But he didn't actually know anyone. He had to admit to himself that he had actually enjoyed having a brotherhood around him for company and support. He never thought he would get to a point where he missed his rowdy brothers but he was there.
Rudy gave a small smile and tipped back the tumbler of whiskey in front of him. He had decided to forgo beer and choose one of his favorite drinks, whiskey sour.
