DISNEY DOLE WHIP TRANSFORMATION

For many of us, a vacation to Disney World isn't a magical one until you have visited Cinderella's Castle and enjoyed the tasty delights of a Dole Whip. Disney has added a new experience by creating a rum-infused Dole Whip. For a limited time, Disney has given vacationers the perfect way to cool off this summer with The Lion King's additional drinks and snacks. So let's hop on the monorail and see what's going on at Animal Kingdom this summer!

Now I'm a vodka gal, so my favorite drink is a Jolly Rancher cocktail. However, Disney has an intriguing way of converting one's palate and I'm all for it. Here is what's on the menu at Animal Kingdom: Simba Ice cream sandwich, Simba Sunset Dole Whip, and Ashante Slush. For family members and couples over 21, there's Sarengeti Sangria and King’s Cooler Dole Whip; infused with rum. From what I read in other sources, Shaved Ice is also at Animal Kingdom; which I think Animal Kingdom has served Shaved Ice in previous summers. I may be wrong on that, so please post in the discussion regarding whether Shaved Ice is a recurring beverage or something new. Keep in mind, that on May 28, 2019 these items have been available in Animal Kingdom, so I'm not sure how long the park will continue serving the additional drinks and snacks I listed above.

In any event, for those who are saving up for their next Disney trip and doing yet another (yawn) summer staycation; you can make your own rum-infused Dole Whip at home. (Ingredients and directions at the end of this post.)

Alright, so maybe rum is not your speed. Jack Sparrow will truly be disappointed... Disney has other adult beverages around the world. So, our next destination is Epcot!

"La Cantina de San Angel" is a quick service spot that has grown in popularity this summer. It's located in Mexico, and the margaritas are a dream. "La Cantina de San Angel" serves two margarita flavors which are mango and strawberry. France in Epcot serves a scrumptious Grey Goose slushy and Italy has flavorful adult popsicles. Disney does have an abundance of non alcohol drinks and treats. For example, King’s Cooler Dole Whip can be served without alcohol. I would list more adult and non alcohol beverages,  but I'll leave it to my fellow Disney travellers to join in on the discussion.

Serving Size: 4-5, Meal Prep: 5 min, Total Time: 10 min

5 cups Frozen pineapple

1/4 cup Lemonade (or more depending on your taste buds)

3/4 cup Coconut Milk

Pineapple wedges

Maraschino cherries

1/2 cup Coconut rum

Step 1- Combine the frozen pineapples, lemonade, and coconut milk in the blender. OPTIONAL: Add coconut rum for the rum-infused taste

Step 2- After blending, the contents should result in a creamy textured drink

Step 3- Pour the blended drink in whisky glasses

Step 4- Add pineapple wedges and maraschino cherries as garnish
