celebrating the holidays on tumblr a little differently this year. in the past, i haven’t done a whole lot through my rp blogs to celebrate, and this year i wanted to change that. and what better way than to shine some light on the handful of rp partners i’ve had over the last 4 years that have made my time here so much better than it could’ve ever been without them?

please note there is no order to these, and i adore every one of the people i will be posting about to the max

This girl. Sam was one of the early people I met when I first joined the OUaT rp fandom. I’m pretty sure we joined within a couple months of each other, and we’ve been together ever since. Even if our interactions have been limited lately thanks life but I still love this girl to death. So much so that, despite recent canon developments, Killian and Liam I’s mother will always always always be named evelynn, and not alice. Although I don’t RP on Killian much anymore (read: once in a blue moon), the development in our verses will always be held onto because her Emma is just that important to him.

         she’s  come  a  long  way  ;  she’s  stopped  flinching  at  the  caring  touches  bestowed  upon  her  ,  she’s  stopped  running  from  affection  .  she’s  come  to  appreciate  the  simplest  of  gestures  ---  even  a  loving  arm  casually  wrapping  around  her  on  a  lazy  sunday  afternoon  ,  prompting  her  closer  .  she’s  no  longer  tense  ,  afraid  to  let  the  people  who  love  her  do  just  that  ;  love  her  .  she  finally  feels  safe  .  &  killian’s  among  the  people  at  the  top  of  her  list  who  definitely  take  credit  for  that  .  so  she  relaxes  into  the  hold  he  has  on  her  now  ,  schooching  closer  to  his  side  as  her  head  comes  to  rest  against  his  shoulder  ,  chin  tipping  so  as  to  press  a  quick  kiss  against  his  jaw  before  turning  her  attention  back  to  the  screen  in  front  of  them  .  she  could  get  used  to  this  .

“I’m glad you like it, Kil, I really am-- but, love, it could use a wash.” It had been a silly purchase, one on a whim because it had caught her eye and she thought it would bring out his. And it did. And when he smiled at her after pulling it over his head for the first time it took her back to the first time she got those butterflies in her stomach. “Perhaps I should have bought two.”

 The pirate rolled his eyes, James’ line of thinking enough to make an amused grin appear on his face. “And here I was thinking you wanted to be romantic, but you’re talking like a bloody dog in heat.” He grabbed his rum, finishing it off and gesturing to the bartender for another. James’ view towards women was very much a call back to his pirating days (that is, before Milah). Bed the woman after sunset and be gone before sunup. It had been a fine way to live if you were just interested in fulfilling certain needs, and the passion of one fiery night with no commitments. But it was hardly romancing. Romancing took time, effort.

              “Money, title…all well and good. But…transient, as you now see. But what about the person behind those, then? Have you ever tried leading things not as Prince James but just James?”

James nearly scoffed at Killian’s words, but the pirate had a point. The truth was, he wasn’t after some temporary fling, a quick release with no feeling or commitment behind it. The world might be due to end in the forseeable future, but - James Nolan wanted a relationship. He’d been more shocked to discover that about himself than he imagined anyone who knew him could possibly be. It’s those damn Charmings and their stupid happy little family. They’ve corrupted me. 

“Well there’s the problem.” He admitted sullenly, scowling now at the chipped surface of the bar as he idly twisted his glass of whiskey around and around in the pool of condensation that had gathered at its base. “I’m not just James here, am I? I’m Prince James, David’s brother James.” Evil twin James, to a lot of people. “That one’s the worst. People look at me and expect to see him, and then when they realise I’m nothing like my dear heroic brother, they don’t want to bother.”

 It was obvious to Killian that this conversation, at least on James’ end, had taken a departure from the lighthearted casual chatter that it had been a minute ago. “Hey now. A bloody car can’t hold a candle to a magnificent ship such as mine.” Killian leaned forward, trained eyes scanning James curiously and with some modicum of concern. What had he said? The other man was practically crumpling in on himself, his whole demeanor screaming anxiety and rid of the other’s usual easy-going manner.

                      “We can drop it,” he affirmed, brow furrowing. He stepped closer, his steady hand grasping James’ shoulder. “James.” He ducked his head a little, trying to catch the other man’s frantic gaze. “What’s the matter, mate?”

James could feel his temper clawing its way up his throat, battling against the panic that trapped him in, and he knew if he didn’t get control of himself soon he’d end up lashing out at possibly the only friend he had in this damned town. When the hand clasped down on his shoulder, he almost wrenched away from the touch in an automatic flinch, but he held himself firm. Do not show weakness, James. A prince does not have weaknesses. 

“Nothing.” The word was clipped and short, his voice sharp, and he begged for Killian to drop the subject and let it be. Somehow, however, he doubted that was going to happen. Besides, part of him was actually pleased that someone cared enough to show concern for him - someone that wasn’t his brother, that is. There was only so much brotherly love he could take on a daily basis. “It’s... it’s nothing.”
