So many feelings in these three pictures. 4 generations separate the eldest, my grandmother 92, and the youngest, Jami 13. Katie's in there too, she's 17. Friday, the kids had a performance near our home and my parents took them. They'd just returned home from Tennessee, from Mom's (see my last IG post, my Mom's headshot) 50th anniversary of ADPi at Murray State University. They brought my grandmother back with them for a visit. . Mema had never seen them dance before. She didn't know the athleticism or beauty that goes into Irish Dance. Due to my health and the kids' health and schedules we haven't been home in quite a few years. I so wanted Mema to see the lifestyle my kids have chosen. Believe me, Irish Dance is not a one or two night a week thing, it's a whole lifestyle choice. After the performance Mema came and stayed about 6 hrs to talk with me while Katie had to go back to class for the evening and Wm had a performance with his band. I had Jami and Mema for company until my parents brought Katie back. We talked the whole time about this, that and everything. . Most of all though I never thought Mema would ever come up to Kansas City again. She's had back, hip, neck and pelvis surgery. She has macular degeneration that's pretty advanced and she's 92. She still lives alone, but doesn't drive anymore. Our family home is rural, in the valley of the Mississippi and Tennessee rivers. We just didn't think she'd be able to make a full day's drive from house to house. I am so thankful that my Mom took these pictures. I'm proud my kids are old enough to remember their great-grandmother. I'm beyond blessed that I got to spend more time with her on Friday even though it wasn't a good pain day for me. Mema helped shape my life. I will always want one last time with her. If this one was it, then I was granted the greatest gift of all. . Hopefully some of this made sense. I'm kinda in stream of consciousness mode right now. I'm in the middle of a med swap and today was a not so good day. But I really wanted to get these pictures up. I'm so proud of them. . #lifeonosage #family #irishdancer #irishdance #memories #musings #driscolldancers #generations (at Independence, Missouri)
