Whatso Funny about this? - OK. so "hell" isn't a verb or an adverb. Nevertheless, it functions as one in this idiom. There are other similar uses of "hell", such as "you look like hell". Driving like hell means to drive in a crazy, reckless way. Perhaps hell is crazy and reckless, who knows. What we DO know, is that driving like this can get you killed and once you're dead from poor driving, chances are greater that you'll end up in hell than in heaven. And THAT's what's so funny!
