Scourge being a private investigator is a great idea adghhhh!!! Because!!! Shattered will employ her to find out what happened to their creator! Why were they killed! And then Scourge will figure out it happened because it was ordered by Sofia N. And she will also discover Nameless occupies Sofia N's body
Ergo, with all this information, Shattered will come to the conclusion that Nameless took over the body of Sofia N. and ordered the execution of her clones! Because why would she do that out of her own will? She would NEVER do that!
Also fun fact because I don't think I've laid this out here, but the world of Drought Times works on a specific cycle
Drizzle -- Everything is normal. People die and are born normally, as in souls are fully formed and when you die you go through true death - your soul almost immediately returns to the Void. usually lasts for a few centuries, sometimes millenia.
Downpour -- Downpour is when the Void starts searching for a new Avatar, to reform itself and reset. The Void becomes more active, preparing itself to fold into itself and inhabit a body. True Death stops -- souls no longer go back to the Void, but births are still relatively normal. Souless people are more likely to be born. In some places people might get infected with Ash.
The body of an Ashened person is still alive and stays mortal, despite what the soul tells it. It can be killed, but the effect will only take place after the soul detaches itself from the body. The soul will detach if the Drought starts ‐ the Void disappearing causes souls to stop dying, causing the confused soul to return to the alive state.
It happens when the body doesn't die, but the soul acts as if it has died. It doesn't separate, but it still starts attracting and generating Void energy that gets stuck on the soul, physically manifesting as Ash. Sometimes only a piece of the soul “dies”, causing partial Ashening. It can later spread to the rest of the soul/body (this may happen to those, whose souls are already fragmented, causing the Ashening to not fully land)
Downpour usually lasts a few dozen years - enough for a soulless person to grow up and be overtaken by the Void, becoming an Avatar, not enough to cause any severe issues. The Void prefers adult, healthy people and will not pick someone who is sick, wounder or dying.
Drought -- The entirety of the time when there is no Void, so no True Death happens AND no new soul matter is being released into the world, thus no new souls form. Usually a drought lasts around 50-60 years. Still not enough time for the big issues to happen, there is still a lot of loose soul hanging around and being released by death to inhabit newly formed humans. Entropy is not an issue unless someone is extremely unlucky.
Usually.
The current drought has been going on for around seven centuries :)
Deluge* -- hypothetical state of the world that will happen as the current Drought will finish. The state that will be documented before the next drizzle comes. A lot of True Death will happen. Ghosts will disappear. Soulless people will not have new souls, but anyone born during that time may receive an overripe, overflowing soul. Entropy will slowly disappear as those affected by it will die out. Anyone whose soul has already rendered itself dead, but who did not actually die, will drop the moment it happens.
been thinking a lot about The Machine and The Nameless and the Simulation so I wrote a quick thing that could happen right before The Machine yoinks The Nameless and forces it into the Simulation
Wanted to connect humanity. Everyone must be happy, content, in my world. But… an [ISSUE] came up. Could only access sufficiently [ENSOULED]. Treshhold rate: 56% [SOUL] integrity. Anyone below -> incompatible with [SIMULATION]. Searched for a [SOLUTION] for a long time. The [SOLUTION] has been found.
[YOU].
“Wh- What? No, we cannot be your solution! We can’t even go in the Omninet!” They protested, blood freezing in their veins. This thing, it was spewing nonsense. They garnered Entropied members, yes, they could help them live normal lives, function like anyone else, but they just wanted to help. The Omninet was a place of the privileged, a place that effectively marginalized anyone who was affected with Entropy. To help it would be like a betrayal of Nameless’ all values… They could feel the cold grasp of the previous prophet, protectively encircling them. She was against this, they felt her distaste for the being.
Affirmative. A [SOULLESS] being cannot enter. [BUT]. Direct [CONNECTION] can be established. [YOU] have access to most of humanity’s [ENTROPIED] members. Every day more [ENTROPIED] get [CONNECTED] to [YOU] -> The [NEXUS]. The network is a superb foundation.
“The network? Do you mean my… infection?” Could it in some way exploit the links between everyone with it? The prophet agreed with their thoughts. She felt this was wrong, a trap of some sorts. Sensing her intentions, they turned and started running, searching for an escape. Maybe they can get out of this endless void, leave before it can enforce its will, do something, anything, warn the others-
Have been preparing for your arrival. [CONNECTION] to my [SIMULATION] possible not only for [YOU], [BUT] also [YOUR] companions. The soul-mixed [VESSEL]. The [ANGEL]. Further testing required for the [AVATAR]. Incorporation success rate estimated around 0.6%. The [AVATAR] will be incorporated at further notice. Currently my [SIMULATION] is ready for the [CONNECTION]. Do not resist. This will be quick.
I'm an amateur writer with a love for worldbuilding and I have a few projects I would like to share! I must warn you, unfortunately I have not written substantial prose for these projects. I mostly post ideas, tag games, short posts/stories, and the like about them. Occasionally art. Most of my work on my projects is worldbuilding, ontology, theology, all that good -logy stuff
My main blog is @teratheo and that is from where likes/follows come from!
A brief summary of my main wips and tags I use and other things about my blog under the cut!
Szekh And Nane
#s.and.n - Szekh (ʃɛkx) and Nane (nänɛ) setting! The project currently doesn't have a name. A worldbuilding project, into which I insert characters, minor scenarios, ideas. I often "adapt" media I enjoy into it (eg. what would Death Note be like if it was in the szekh world? what would Invincible be like? Et cetera.). It is set in the modern world, with the only difference being the existence of szekh, their gods and related elements.
In this world, hidden among humans, are szekh. They are a prideful, authoritarian, highly religious society, basing itself on hedonism, subordination and social hierarchy. The setting has 28 gods! I have created an uquiz about them!
#szekh odyssey yapping is a subcategory of this tag, where I have "adapted" Epic The Musical into the szekh setting! One day I will post my funny ideas about Death Note and Code Geass adaptations. fjsdkgnj. I like thinking what would characters in things I like would be in the szekh setting
Drought Times
#drought.times - A more plot-focused project, but still ripe with worldbuilding!
Something happened, in this world. Something that should not have ever happened, something that should have been impossible: the afterlife is gone. Sure, there is more to that, there is always more, and the humans don't really know that it's gone, they just know of the effect. Entropy. A mysterious "disease" is affecting humanity more and more with each passing generation. The wealthy long-lived cling to their almost complete souls, while newborns mostly end up with scraps. Soul is no longer being recycled and remade, just scattered, drifting beyond the veil or straight up refusing to leave the body that should be dead.
In this decaying world, Sofia N., a tech guru thinking herself proud to not have been subject to Entropy, has devised a solution. Her "solution" ends with her haunting her own "dead" body, now occupied by a rather impressionable, naive parasitic fungi...
This is more of a science-fiction setting mixed with multiple fantasy elements, mostly relating to the existence of gods and their angels, the "afterlife" and the entire philosophy of how souls, humanity, death and the like work in the world, which is very distinctly different from ours in these regards.
Firstborn Prince
#firstborn.prince - the most plot-filled project! aaaalso with a bunch of worldbuilding!
My only story set in a more typical fantasy world, with wizards, elementals and long-forgotten deities.
The story intro can be found here!
Antythea
#antythea - the project with the least plot. hah. but I do love it ngl.
A maintenance robot awakens on a desolate space station. As it explores its newfound surroundings, it starts discovering more about itself, the history of the station and its other machine inhabitants. During its journey it encounters a voice from the intercom, which guides it, believing this repairbot is the long-awaited solution, a saviour that will fix this cursed place...
I have also worked on other misc projects, which never came to fruition or simply don't fit into any of that stuff, but still have their own tags
#limes inferior fanfiction - What it says on the tin, I did genuinely start writing it, had a lot of fun, but just never finished it! Maybe one day I will continue, I've enjoyed it greatly.
#alternative.stuff - this is a general tag for any AU's of my worlds, settings, stories!
#worlds.collide - I use this for crossovers!
❌AI & the likes of it. These are my hobbies, my passion projects and special interests.
I do not post my erotic in nature writings on this blog. This is a completely SFW blog. (If you're REALLY curious you can ask me about that in dm's, but I might only share if we're mutuals for a bit and you're an adult (including mutuals on my different blogs ofc))
If its already a high school, then make them roommates/dormmates/etc
Drought Times has a semi-canon (its complicated) human au, so I decided they will be the best fit for a High School AU.
The Nameless is a popular, charismatic kid who never gets into trouble with the teachers simply because they are just too liked. A warm, kind optimist. They always help others out and love volunteering at local initiatives. They are however naive and can be manipulated. Their dream is to be a politician who will change the world and help everyone in need. Nameless has huge struggles with their gender identity, but they don't open up about it with anyone, including their mother. Near the end of the story they would however talk about this with The Nobody, The Shattered and afterwards would come out to the rest of the clique.
Their mother is The Host, who holds a high position in a local biotech company. For the AU... she engages with the Parent's Council for the school and makes everyone's lives hell I bet GFDSHNJGD She hated her twin and has no idea what to do with The Shattered that was metaphorically dropped off at her doorstep with no instruction.
The Illuminated is the Principal FSDKJD. It also teaches Information Technology. Has scuffles with The Host, but believes itself to be the winner of them no matter what. It's a single parent of The Machine, so it's not assigned to its child in terms of class-teaching. (The Previous Avatar used to be its wife, but she passed away. She used to teach literature). It instilled the love for computers in Machine. They have a rocky relationship, with highs and lows, as after the passing of its wife, Illuminated has been more demanding and forceful towards how Machine should shape its life.
The Machine, just like in its original Human AU, is disabled - its a bilateral arm amputee. It's interested in technology and programming as a hobby, but dreams of studying anthropology. Its parent makes it wear prosthetics while outside, but it finds them uncomfortable. Being the child of the principal and being visibly disabled caused a social stigma being put on it, unfortunately, so it was relegated to being a loner, at least until Shattered befriends it and pulls it into the friendship clique
The Shattered is a child of The Host's twin who has tragically died (depending on how close to the "canon" we go she was either killed by The Host, murdered or died in an accident) and now The Host has to take on the orphan as she was their closest family. The Shattered butts heads with the Nameless, believing them to be some sort of evil schemer because of their popularity and charisma, but once they learn that The Nameless is Genuinely Just That Sort Of Person they warm up to each other. The Shattered dreams of being a streamer, so they work towards that dream. They have a very small following, like 10 regular viewers at most. They however don't know much about technology and how they should set up everything on their computer, how to manage their accounts, how to moderate, how to deal with all that, so they searched for someone who would be knowledgable about all that stuff and they heard gossip about The Machine being interested in that, so Shattered tries asking it for help. A pure business relation grows into a friendship :) now Machine is a mod on their channel <3
The Scourge is also one of the students... hm... she is tricky considering her innate connection to the Illuminated in canon, but she doesn't fit for its child or anything... Before she realized she's a girl, she was pretty popular - I believe she was training fencing and was pretty good at it. Dysphoria hit her strong though and because of that she had to drop out of sports 💔💔 After transitioning she changed schools because of bullying that she was being put through. I have no idea how to include Illuminated in her story without changing the tone of the whole AU, so I'm going to drop it from her story. Anyway! After changing schools, she tries to socialize and gets on well with The Shattered, becoming friends with them, through them with The Nameless, and then Nobody and Machine get pulled into the friend clique, forming the main cast of Drought Times! Her dream is to be a private investigator, she loves mystery novels but still hasn't started hating cops.
The Nobody is a loner who always sits in the back of the class, seemingly never paying attention to anything. He is in the Biology and Chemistry Science Clubs! He has good academic results. His mother is chronically ill, he believes he can, one day, become a scientist and discover a cure for her illness. Because of his dream he spends most of time studying, not spending much time with his peers. One day he protects The Nameless from a thug in a seedy alley and after that The Nameless clings onto him, considering The Nobody his friend sksks.
sksksks thank you so much for asking! This was fun to think about sksksk
Happy Storyteller Saturday; which projects are you more actively writing at the moment, and which ones are having a rest?
hi! happy STS! >:)))
Currently I'm working the most on my TTRPG Campaign I'm co-DMing, haha! (I even have a session today and I'm spending this afternoon preparing the combat encounter sksks). My previous mission was very nice, but rather short, so I want my second mission to be a bit longer (our co-DMing arrangement is such as that the other person did the first 3 missions, now I do 3 more, and then they go for 3 more and so on, so this is my second ever mission in the system! (Lancer))
I also sometimes write for one story I have set in the Szekh and Nane setting (it needs a better name...) about paid fake-dating (a human is employed by a guy who wants to kill him or eat him to Awaken as nane to satisfy his nane family)(it's going to have nsfw scenes dvsff). Besides that, my most recent work was for Firstborn Prince, just writing some scenes between the two main characters
Antythea, my story about a robot awakening on a desolate space station is not even on the backburner, it's in the fridge. I do sometimes think about it when I'm listening to songs that remind me of it (A Human's Touch by TWRP is Amaaazing for the Android character's angst and "Get Lost" from Moana 2 (especially the polish version, "Się Zgub". I find the polish lyrics to be better fitting for my characters than the english ones, so I only listen to the polish version </3)(we don't have the negative connotation for the phrase Get Lost)) is perfect for the Android speaking to, and guiding the main robot character
I don't work much on Drought Times as of now, but I have posted a piece I have written a while ago and edited up recently on AO3 ! I started writing a thing I placeholder-y called "Last Breaths of Sofia N" which details her last moments alive and the "birth" of Nameless
I'm aaalso Thinking about writing poems. I technically have all I need for a competition I want to enter, but I don't love one of them and one is unfinished. One is really great and I really like it! Will only upload them to tumblr if I don't end up entering or they're not published by the entity that holds the competition
Happy Storyteller Saturday! Top five Sofia N facts!
Sofia, Sofia the horrible horrible women (plural intended) you are......
1. Belongs to a long line of exact clones of the original Sofia. The clones spend most of their lives in a vat, being implanted with the original's memories to ensure they are the same person as she was (some inferior clones are not implanted with everything as they are meant to perform lesser, non-leadership roles. They are only implanted with Sofia's morals and values, foregoing the assertiveness, among other things)
2. Believes total human extinction is the way to go and save humanity 🎉
3. Absolutely no capacity for forming stable, healthy relationships. The superiority complex goes hard. The most stable relationship she has ever had is the idolization of the idea of the Original Sofia
4. The fourteenth clone in total (A-N). Not every one of them was a "full" clone though (so the leadership ones with the full pack of memories)
5. Convinced a sentient fungus inhabiting her quasi-dead body that she's God :^)
