Look at all my szekh

So like. I have Alicia, who is a main character of one of my WIP. And I have another szekh character who has such a similiar story its unbelievable and they came to be independently to each other. Szekh absentee father galore. Love when one of someone's parents is secretly szekh and the child then has to come to the realization that they know nothing about their parents (I have another fun guy OC who is a cop and his mother is the police chief/high-ranked prosecutor and he is investigating stuff and she gives him jobs to clean up after szekh and conceal their presence and stuff. I dont know if Ive posted this here or no? if not I will write it up in a nice post and post it because I like that one sksks)

Alicja's backstory (up to revision):

Alicja's father is a nane man coming from a long-standing szekh family. He briefly escaped from the world, fell in love and got together with her mother. He knew he can try to live his life peacefully as long as he keeps his head low, would move often and never use any szekh traits.

Alicja was an accident. Her mother wouldn't understand why her partner begged her to have an abortion, but she didn't budge, she wanted to have a child with this man. She wanted to settle, stop moving job after job, and just find a place to live.

Desperate, finally, he confessed to her that he was an ex-member of a very dangerous mafia and he cannot risk their safety like this. He knew that if szekh get him, neither he nor his child will not be able to escape their grasp.

He left, warning his lover not to ever let Alicja get too close to his real identity.

She was basically raised by her (maternal) grandmother and her mom. They managed to somehow scrape by, at least until grandma died. This was the cause of much hardship. And then mom started losing her sight.

(Not related to my main point, but its juicy: Alicja meets her father later in a Kenoge's court, but he pretends not to recognize her and she doesnt know who he is. But he tries to help her out anonymously and from the shadows)

Another OC's story, who is solely based on the song and eve was weak from carrie the musical. So expect me ripping off mister king. Sorry JNFBDBD

Most possibly a teenager. They knew nothing about szekh stuff: they have a human mother who has kept them sheltered and has never spoken to them about their father. (The mother knows some stuff about szekh because of her ex-partner. She is devoutly catholic and she believes szekh are demon seed)

They just know their father has issues and died before they were old enough to remember him.

One day, at school, they get their first, quite painful, period. They have a full-blown, severe panic attack. They genuinely think they are going to die. Ergo, they Awaken (passively by death, so entirely subjective near-death experience. The most important factor is genuine perception of the person) as szekhluin. And thats not a very pleasant Awakening, especially when you have no idea it will happen.

One of the school faculty, most likely one of the teachers, is szekh and they have sensed something is wrong. They connected the dots, found the OC and helped them out through it, told them about szekh in their office and calmed them down. They treated them with utmost care, talking about being szekh in only superlatives. They internally decided to report this to their local szekhkenoge, as children Awakening is something uncommon and they always investigate the matter (people Awakening their children before they can choose what they want is an issue, but also "spontaneous" Awakenings are treated as normal, so they investigate which one was it)

After the OC comes home, they talk about the entire ordeal with their mother (que: And Eve Was Weak. hehe.)

The sin here is the OC's father, who the mother now deems to be a demon.

She believed she could steer her child from becoming an evil demon like their father did, she could shield them. but she couldn't. Her child was raised in constant terror, and so they reacted with terror, undoing all the protection they were granted.

She is afraid her child will be killed just like their father. Because the father was an activist, a revolutionary, a Nrinne (Goddess of Betrayal, Lies, Upheaval) Marked working against the szekh government, who abandoned the family before he could be traced to them. He was secretly assassinated before he could organize something bigger once it was clear that his struggle could not be used to strengthen the societal forces but would weaken them

She still hopes that her faith in the catholic god can save her child from going down this dark path.

What is it like living as a full blooded human in the Szekh and Nane world?

Generally it is the same life as in our world, but I think there might be minor differences in the history of "magic" related thought, some differences in theology.

A full blooded human (FBH) is statistically most likely to not know anything about szekh existing, like, at all. People who are aware of their existence are few.

Szekh hold no qualms against eliminating a person who knows if they pose a threat of spreading the knowledge around. They however let "important" humans in, if they seek to gain something from it. Often high-ranking politicians, police officers, some doctors in areas with a high szekh populations may be in-the-know, but usually szekh tend to try to get into such positions so that they can serve their kind from the shadows. Such high-position humans who are in the know usually gain personal benefits from the situation or are blackmailed/threatened. Cases of letting humans know because of what they can do for szekh people are always handled by the local szekhkenoge with utmost care and diplomacy.

There are of course FBHs who are fully in the know not because of some benefit, but just because they learned of szekh affairs. These could be spouses, parents, siblings of Awakened szekh who learned, most usually by accident, about the secret.

Szekh clerics of Fate are always divining who may "break" the secret and work very closely with the Wellness Agency (basically secret szekh police) to dispose of anyone who might put the secret at risk.

I also have some characters who know about szekh and revere them - there have always been cults of personality created around visionaries who exploited their status. I recently had a dream in which a fenotkhase (unawakened) szekh guy was discovered by a cult of humans who worshipped szekh and they goaded him into Awakening (he was a giga asshole. the dream moved to a different plot before he got tortured though fsdjgkfd)

In one of my WIPS there is a long-standing nane family which has a FBH housekeeper, who is in the know and is even allowed to worship szekh gods, a "priviledge" extended only to most trusted allies.

Biologically, FBH are humans. They cannot understand nor learn szekhteko (the szekh language). They can, however, tap into magic - treating the letters as magical runes or incantations, they can, after training, use magic, but it is rather uncommon and disbelieved.

Being szekh is determined by a recessive allela, so FBHs can be carriers of the gene without being a fenotkhase, so it's not extremely rare for FBHs to have fenotkhase children/siblings. (I'm still not sure about that. in some drafts it's a dominant allela sksks)

important note! FBH CAN be Marked by szekh gods! It happens the same way - if receiving attention from a specific god, a person can have its Mark permanently inscribed somewhere on their body, usually in form of a scar. Marked humans get minor abilities from such a Mark.

FBH activities can generate the divine force (magic) fitting the specific god's domain, so they have influence on that plane of existence, just like szekh.

Ontologically, humans have special souls. Humans, unlike szekh, undergo reincarnation - when they die, their souls are remade into a new one which all of this is taken care of by gods of life and death. Hal and H''et are fond of them sksks. They don't need to Pass Over, as Hal and H''et deal with the soul ownership between each other - there is no need for FBH to adhere to szekh funerary and religious rituals

The views on szekh coming from FBHs is a natural range - fear, bewilderment, amazement, lust, reverence, indifference, you name it. Usually starts with fear of the unknown. Usually FBHs are uncomfortable with strict interpersonal hierarchies, traditionalism and indifference to the fate of humans plaguing szekh doctrine and society.

hm. am stumped at one point of the story.

Alicja is currently in her monstrous form - it's a rather big creature

She is carrying around a dead body

She has figured out how to fly, so she can fly around with it

She needs to find shelter - doesnt want to be seen nor heard, wants to hide (spoiler: she is going to start eating the body in the shelter place and will get interrupted by Wellness Office agents locating her and seizing her)

she cannot go home (neither her nor the corpse's - she doesnt know where he lived and she cannot unlock his phone right now (PIN))

She doesnt want to go to a public bathroom ("but… that’s so unhygienic.")

She is currently in a public park, it's night. Like 11am, nearing midnight. It's a miracle she hasn't been seen

I am thinking that I will slightly base it on the place I used to live in in [big city in poland], so maybe she could go to the train station...? but it's a big stretch that NOBODY will see her. But we could also go the way that she Was seen, but the Wellness Office (secret szekh police) people kidnapped the witnessess................. hm.....

update: figured it out with help! She will go hide in a local sports centre changing room! They are often near parks and the locks are FLIMSY. she will be able to very easily break the door with her newfound strength hehe

I'm an amateur writer with a love for worldbuilding and I have a few projects I would like to share! I must warn you, unfortunately I have not written substantial prose for these projects. I mostly post ideas, tag games, short posts/stories, and the like about them. Occasionally art. Most of my work on my projects is worldbuilding, ontology, theology, all that good -logy stuff

Szekh And Nane

#s.and.n - Szekh (ʃɛkx) and Nane (nänɛ) setting! The project currently doesn't have a name. A worldbuilding project, into which I insert characters, minor scenarios, ideas. I often "adapt" media I enjoy into it (eg. what would Death Note be like if it was in the szekh world? what would Invincible be like? Et cetera.). It is set in the modern world, with the only difference being the existence of szekh, their gods and related elements.

In this world, hidden among humans, are szekh. They are a prideful, authoritarian, highly religious society, basing itself on hedonism, subordination and social hierarchy. The setting has 28 gods! I have created an uquiz about them!

Drought Times

#drought.times - A more plot-focused project, but still ripe with worldbuilding!

Something happened, in this world. Something that should not have ever happened, something that should have been impossible: the afterlife is gone. Sure, there is more to that, there is always more, and the humans don't really know that it's gone, they just know of the effect. Entropy. A mysterious "disease" is affecting humanity more and more with each passing generation. The wealthy long-lived cling to their almost complete souls, while newborns mostly end up with scraps. Soul is no longer being recycled and remade, just scattered, drifting beyond the veil or straight up refusing to leave the body that should be dead.

In this decaying world, Sofia N., a tech guru thinking herself proud to not have been subject to Entropy, has devised a solution. Her "solution" ends with her haunting her own "dead" body, now occupied by a rather impressionable, naive parasitic fungi...

This is more of a science-fiction setting mixed with multiple fantasy elements, mostly relating to the existence of gods and their angels, the "afterlife" and the entire philosophy of how souls, humanity, death and the like work in the world, which is very distinctly different from ours in these regards.

Firstborn Prince

#firstborn.prince - the most plot-filled project! aaaalso with a bunch of worldbuilding!

My only story set in a more typical fantasy world, with wizards, elementals and long-forgotten deities.

Antythea

#antythea - the project with the least plot. hah. but I do love it ngl.

A maintenance robot awakens on a desolate space station. As it explores its newfound surroundings, it starts discovering more about itself, the history of the station and its other machine inhabitants. During its journey it encounters a voice from the intercom, which guides it, believing this repairbot is the long-awaited solution, a saviour that will fix this cursed place...

I have also worked on other misc projects, which never came to fruition or simply don't fit into any of that stuff, but still have their own tags

#limes inferior fanfiction - What it says on the tin, I did genuinely start writing it, had a lot of fun, but just never finished it! Maybe one day I will continue, I've enjoyed it greatly.

Happy Storyteller Saturday; which projects are you more actively writing at the moment, and which ones are having a rest?

Currently I'm working the most on my TTRPG Campaign I'm co-DMing, haha! (I even have a session today and I'm spending this afternoon preparing the combat encounter sksks). My previous mission was very nice, but rather short, so I want my second mission to be a bit longer (our co-DMing arrangement is such as that the other person did the first 3 missions, now I do 3 more, and then they go for 3 more and so on, so this is my second ever mission in the system! (Lancer))

I also sometimes write for one story I have set in the Szekh and Nane setting (it needs a better name...) about paid fake-dating (a human is employed by a guy who wants to kill him or eat him to Awaken as nane to satisfy his nane family)(it's going to have nsfw scenes dvsff). Besides that, my most recent work was for Firstborn Prince, just writing some scenes between the two main characters

Antythea, my story about a robot awakening on a desolate space station is not even on the backburner, it's in the fridge. I do sometimes think about it when I'm listening to songs that remind me of it (A Human's Touch by TWRP is Amaaazing for the Android character's angst and "Get Lost" from Moana 2 (especially the polish version, "Się Zgub". I find the polish lyrics to be better fitting for my characters than the english ones, so I only listen to the polish version </3)(we don't have the negative connotation for the phrase Get Lost)) is perfect for the Android speaking to, and guiding the main robot character

I don't work much on Drought Times as of now, but I have posted a piece I have written a while ago and edited up recently on AO3 ! I started writing a thing I placeholder-y called "Last Breaths of Sofia N" which details her last moments alive and the "birth" of Nameless

I'm aaalso Thinking about writing poems. I technically have all I need for a competition I want to enter, but I don't love one of them and one is unfinished. One is really great and I really like it! Will only upload them to tumblr if I don't end up entering or they're not published by the entity that holds the competition
