everyone is so harsh on it because it's a remake but i enjoyed it a lot, i thought it was a fun movie with good bits of horror in it. like it succeeded really well for what it was, imo. and yeah now when i see it i get a little sad because anton, :(

agreed! and yeah all his movies were off-kilter and interesting; he always seemed to choose good projects (Odd Thomas!!!). I’ll dearly miss him.

is that on Netflix? because the name sounds really familiar, but I can't remember if I saw it there or if it's a current release. your review of it 10/10 makes me want to go see it asap either way

I don’t think it is but there is a show coming out on Netflix in a few days that seems kind of similar - Stranger Things. I hope you see it!

"as if culture on tumblr shifted permanently" ahhh, yeah, darling. i feel that so strongly sometimes and it's so hard to reconcile with a space that has been so important wrt conversations and learnings and engagements w new and evolving topics. i feel like i have grown so much with it, to see a stagnation seems particularly harsh.

also, as always, v good points re celebrity and mindfulness and the reality of the pervasiveness of isms vs the fantasy of persona :// harsh but needed

thank you for the thoughtful reply di ❤ i definitely think the landscape of tumblr has changed so much over time; when i first started using tumblr i thought of it as a place of information and celebration of community. now i’m pretty much just scared of it, though i’m still aware of how vital is has become in some conversations. there seems to be some serious conflation btwn education and bullying, and a lot to unpack surrounding that. furthermore, i feel like the catalyst behind the shift (replies being gone) was essentially accidental and out of our control, so i’m not even sure what would need to happen to incite change now.
