Fact: My favorite commercial is the Amazon commercial where the baby is scared of her golden retriever but loves lions. So the dad buys a lion mane for the dog and when the dog puts it on the baby likes the dog because she thinks he’s a lion. *ugly tears*

“Can I tell you a secret?” Nate asked unexpectedly.
Ray paused his game and gave the phone his full attention. “Sure, what’s up?”
“I bought your birthday present today!”
“I…what? My birthday’s not for ages.” Ray had been prepared for any number of secrets, but not this one.
“I’m so excited. You’re going to love it!”
“Okayyyy, but, like, I’m kinda the one person you’re not supposed to be talking to this about, dude.”
“Yeah, I know. I’m not going to tell you what it is. But you’re the person I tell things to.”
Ray paused, trying to gather his thoughts to appropriately convey to Nate how pathetically nerdy this entire scenario was.
“I know you have friends there. I have to listen to them wet themselves over how important internationalism has been for American prosperity and safety every single time I come to visit you.”
“Yeah, but they don’t care. And when I get excited about shit and I know no one’s going to care, I tell you.”
“I am embarrassed for you that you are this comfortable being this pathetically whipped.”
Nate laughed. “You sent me an ecard with your face photoshopped over a kitten’s literally last week. I’m secure that I’m not alone in my sappiness.”
“That was a JOKE!”
