dragonite fossil tramp stamp
Said as though that is not already the plan.
Hey hey hey. What do you call a fossil that doesn't want to work? . . . A lazy bone.

Okay Inkless, I'll bite.
Rules: In a text post, list ten books that have stayed with you in some way. Don’t take but a few minutes, and don’t think too hard — they don’t have to be the “right” or “great” works, just ones that have touched you. Tag ten friends, including me, so I’ll see your list. Make sure you let your friends know you’ve tagged them!
1. The Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce
Fuck you if I can only list one, I had a hard enough time narrowing it down to one quartet, let alone a single book. Immortals was my first and Protector of the Small my oh my god when does the next one come out already, but you have to go back to Alanna at the start of it all. (Even if Immortals has more dragons).
2. The Dark Lord of Derkholm by Diana Wynne Jones
Okay so Diana Wynne Jones is one of Those Fantasy Authors and I feel as though I should be listing like Howl's Moving Castle or The Chronicles of Chrestomanci or something. But I can't because Derkholm and its sequel were my favorite books for quite a while. Because gryphons! Gryphons. Everyone has dragons and unicorns and all sorts of other things, but gryphons seldom get to feature, especially as people. (I really like gryphons if you weren't aware).
3. Redwall by Brian Jaques
Look, okay, there is food porn and then there are Redwall banquet scenes. I don't even know what meadow cream is but I am going to eat it. (I have been a furry since before I knew what furry was.)
4. Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett
This is a very less-than-ideal First Discworld Novel because without the rest of them it makes very little sense at all, but still. Thief of Time was my First Discworld Novel. You don't forget your First Discworld Novel.
5. The Discovery of Dragons by Graeme Base
Okay so this is the book that made me want to draw, and I was into dragons at a very early age. I wanted to grow up to be Graeme Base when I was little and draw dragons all day. Now I want to grow up to be Ursula Vernon. And speaking of Ursula Vernon!
6. Digger by Ursula Vernon
It's an actual book now and I have it so it totally counts. Probably my favorite comic of all time forever, with the most lovable characters and good art and hot damn but Ursula writes a good myth.
7. Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Niel Gaiman
No look I promise I'm not going to drown this list in Pratchett okay just two just two but I mean it's Good Omens. This is reliably one of the funnest books I've ever read, and it just gets better on the re-read.
8. Dragonsong by Anne McCaffery
Look, we all had a Pern phase, okay, and I started with the Harper Hall trilogy. These fucking books got me into online text-based rp when I was like ten, and they are the reason I'm in fandom now I think.
9. Dealing With Dragons by Patricia C. Wrede
Yes hi hello my name is Pi and I enjoy dragons and badass ladies and guess what was my intro into that genre. Dealing with Dragons and the rest of this series are an absolute delight and also an early foray into fucking-with-fantasy-tropes satire that I enjoy so much now.
10. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
If you know me at all, you knew this was coming. Not necessarily for the reasons you think! The Hobbit is a lot of peoples' very first fantasy, and I was mine. But more than that, this book is my dad. My father passed away when I was six, and it fell to my mother to bring me LOTR, Harry Potter, Gaiman and Jordan and Hobb and LeGuin. But my dad read The Hobbit to me when I was a kid and did voices for Gandalf and Smaug and Elrond and brought me dragons for the first time. The Hobbit is a very important book.
