I'm not 100% sure what characters you want to draw, so consider this a multiple-option prompt for the colour palette thing; just pick the one that speaks to you most. Artoo in #1, Din Djarin in 46, Shmi in 76, or Anakin in 87. Thanks!

I wanted to draw the four of them just because I'm like that but in the end I went with Shmi and Anakin side to side, because 76 is called Wait for it, and Shmi waited for Anakin until the end (or at least, waited for him before dying) and 87 is called Carry that weight, which could be interpreted as Anakin carrying the guilt of not being able to save his mother (and also, it takes me to that Beatles song: "Boy, you're gonna carry that weight a long time) so here it's what came out from all these thoughts:

I wish you would write a fic where Asajj and Anakin get an inexplicable force bond (like the one they put in ep8) and now these two idiots have even more ways to get on each other's nerves.

Is it a REAL Force bond if you don't use it to drive each other up the wall??

Since Ilmater and Tefnoor are travel advisors for andalites visiting Earth, do they ever have to interact with human-nothlited-yeerks (or advise their clients on how to interact with them)?

Disappointing reveal time: there aren’t any Yeerk-to-human nothlits in their version of postwar Earth! If this were my AU where Aftran become a human nothlit, maybe the situation by the war’s end would be different enough that other Yeerks would also be able to choose that fate. But Tefnoor and Ilmatar exist in my interpretation of postwar Earth according to canon, where Aftran is a whale and the intergalactic political climate probably wouldn’t allow Yeerk-human nothlits at all.

I have a soft spot for the Yeerk Peace Movement, so I like to imagine that former YPM Yeerks (and Yeerks who cut certain deals with certain people) would be given the option to nothlit as cetaceans instead of getting sent back to the Yeerk homeworld. Yeerk nothlit whale-watching tours could be an extremely lucrative business, if the threat of anti-Yeerk violence wasn’t so high; as it is, the nothlit pods’ migration patterns are kept confidential for their safety.

Just because Aftran and her peers are living off the grid doesn’t mean they’re completely out of touch with Earth culture, though. Tefnoor has a human-style hardcover copy, with paper pages and everything, of Aftran’s bestselling and highly controversial memoir. It holds the record for being the first book written (via thoughtspeech dictation) by a humpback whale.

(Those rumors that certain Yeerks and voluntary hosts with especially valuable scientific and political expertise have been allowed to remain as they are, under new identities, in exchange for their knowledge? Those are just rumors. Just ignore them.)

I'll note that I find reading DAV in published order to be superior to reading it in chronological order, and so for that reason I provide the ffnet link to people instead of the ao3 link. Do you suppose you could set up a second DAV series on ao3, with the stories in published order?

That’s not something I’m planning to do, if only because I personally really prefer it in chronological order, especially as the number of stories in the series continues to grow and get more unwieldy.

There are some ways in which reading it in published order might make more sense. The one I always think of first is the fact that Kadee has a pretty extensive introduction in Optimal Functioning, because that’s the first fic I wrote with her, and that intro does seems a little odd if you read the fics in chronological order and therefore already know her well by the time you get to that fic. But even with the occasional oddness, I still think the story works better chronologically, and the ability to reorder fics in a series is something I really like about AO3.

That said, you’re not the only person who’s said they prefer reading the fics in posted order, so I suppose that’s a good argument for me continuing to crosspost on FFN. :)
