Samira picks at the crust on her sandwich; it's a rare moment of solitude during their shift. It might not be the busiest, but it's still hours on her feet and talking and charting. She needs just ten short minutes of quiet to recharge.

Something she'd assume Santos would be good for.

"Oh," Samira shakes her head slightly, her smile small but polite. "No ne special... we'd just gone a few dates."

work can be a great distraction, until suddenly it can't. that's something he's learned, especially in their line of work. some patient walks in with a problem that hits a little too close to home, or with something you can't fix, and everything is falling apart. he's been there and done that plenty of times over.

"yeah, well, i doubt you're the only one here thinking that." though this is more said to himself, than to her. he gives a glance through the window of the room, making sure there isn't too much chaos out in the hall, before turning back to santos.

"but it's affecting your work. that matters, here." stern. serious. "what's going on?"

it was an honor to work at a teaching hospital, most days. he'd lost count of the students who'd passed through the doors, but held on to an unspoken sense of pride for the ones that had the opportunity to stay. an interesting group of kids, this new batch. " dr. santos, " he glances to the woman over the brim of his glasses, finishing a few notes while there's a free moment to do so. " i hear you're giving out nicknames. should i be flattered or offended that i don't have one yet? "
