Richard Maxwell “Drummer Wanted”
This is only going to be up for a week if I understand the New York City Players website correctly, this is their video of the week. http://nycplayers.org/
It’s my favorite play by my favorite contemporary playwright. Anything else you can find or go see by Richard Maxwell is definitely worth seeing. There is really nothing else quite like them, especially his musicals.
"...AND DECIDED TO GO IN A DISCHARGE-INFLUENCED, STRIPPED-DOWN, HARDCORE-PUNK STYLE THAT DOOM BECAME KNOWN FOR."
PIC INFO: Spotlight on a "drummer wanted" ad by UK hardcore/crust punk band, DOOM, and who they ended up getting was none other than "Stick," c. late '80s.
ORIGIN: "DOOM began as THE SUBVERTERS (formerly RELIGIOUS VOMIT) with Bri Doom (guitar), Jon Pickering (bass/vocals) and Jason (Hog) Hodges (drums).
Around the time that Hog was replaced by new drummer, Mick Harris (NAPALM DEATH), the band changed its name to DOOM...
This line up played one or two gigs, playing in a crossover metal style, but Bri and Jon decided this wasn't the direction they wanted the band to move in as every other band was trying to "crossover" & Bri's guitar playing was somewhat limited (still is).
Consequently they left Harris and the metal style of music, and decided to go in a Discharge-influenced, stripped-down, hardcore punk-style that DOOM became known for.
Pickering dropped bass to concentrate on vocals and Pete Nash (A.G.L.) joined as bass player. "Stick," recently made band-less, joined after a very drunken meeting (hassle) at the infamous Mermaid Pub, this was when the "real" DOOM was formed."

Drummers and singer wanted
We need a drummer and backup singer atm as we just have guitar, bass and lead vocals.
Our band plays music that could be compared to arctic monkeys and black keys genre wise. We are looking to release our first album by the end of the year but are in need of a drummer and also a soprano.
Requirments:
- lives in gippsland, Victoria

If you are interested, please contact this email address, and don’t by afraid to send a video of you singing or drumming.
