Come back from a party at 2 am, possibly drunk and intoxicated by cigarettes and there's a new dragon clip...so typical
This drunk guy really, REALLY wanted to chat to Alex Ferguson - so he did what anyone would in his position and dialled 999
Sometimes, when you've had a bit too much to drink, everything seems terrible and you just need to talk to someone
Sometimes, chatting to your mates just isn't enough and only, er... Sir Alex Ferguson will do. So what do you do? You call 999, obviously
We say obviously, but we have to admit the thought had never occurred to us.
It did however make complete sense to one Manchester United fan, who called the emergency number after his team lost quite spectacularly to Sunderland last week.
This is what the police had to say about the incident:
And here is a transcript of the conversation:
“How can I help?”
“Yeah, could I speak to Sir Alex Ferguson please? Please.”
“Not from a 999 line, I'm afraid”
“But the result is all wrong! They had extra time and it was a total and utter load of rubbish.”
“You're actually on the 999 police line, is there any crime you need to report to the police this evening?”
“Yeah, a crime, yeah, I'll report a crime.”
“And what crime is that?”
“The crime is that Manchester United...Manchester United were absolutely knackered.”
“I'm going to clear the line now, then, okay?”
“Yeah but can you call me back then?”
“I can't do that”
“Why not?”
“Because it's not a police matter”
“A police matter? Are you a police woman?”
“I'm not a police woman, no, I'm a member of police staff, and this is not a 999 matter”
“A 999 matter? Oh, I see. Right. Okay then.”
“I'm going to go now, good bye”
“Bye bye”
So, there you have it. Man United losing at football, definitively not a police matter

There is always "that guy". He's been there since noon, now he's your new biggest fan. After your set, he will talk to you incoherently for the next hour.
