if I read one more fucking rant about "the q slur" being used in- or outside of "our own community" (to be clear this is in the context of an innocent adjective not a noun shouted at someone in the street)
yall.
if I have to type out LGBTQIA+ each time, I'll be turning readers away AND offending some letter of the alphabet that got allocated to the +.
if I have to even try to SAY "the L-G-B-T-plus community" every time instead of just "queer people," my autistic ass is going to stay quiet because I have enough trouble vocalizing, thank you very much, and nailing The Alphabet Soup is just impossible.
Queer is fine to say, even by those outside of our community. Gay is fine. Lesbian is fine. Trans is fine. QUEER IS FINE. "A queer" is not fine, just as "a gay" or "a black" etc. is not fine. Using a word as an adjective to describe people? Great. Using a single noun to replace a person's entire identity as a human? Not so great.
holy buckets, y'all, just be nice to each other, expect some level of kindness and respect in return, and stop looking for ways to be offended. we NEED to be on the discussion table. let's not make it harder than it has to be.
