Most fathers bond with you over things like baseball, music, teaching you HOW to drive  ——  no, not my old Man .  Instead he cracked a beer open during summer , took a    l o n g   swig before OFFERING me a beer of my own.  It didn’t occur to me why he had suddenly grown a heart until the pear shaped ass of Mrs. Wheeler passed us  (paying us no attention), jogging on her way back to her house when it clicked . Some fathers bond over football,  cars, and teaching you how to talk to girls  ——  no, not my old Man . He wanted to bond over Hawkin’s resident Milf.

Focus is lost, and you fall forward, the feeling of knees hitting cement, jeans rip, and there’s blood. AH SHIT! What’s he yelling about now? You didn’t do anything, or at least you hope. Maybe it was BILLY, it’s ALWAYS Billy! Yet you see him, the drunk bastard, your step father pointing at YOU, he’s hollering, he’s red faced and smells of liquor. WHAT HAPPENED, COME ON TELL ME!

       Another drunk tirade before Christmas , but he was sober when he said shit like this to Billy too . His fist clenched at the words . if his mother loved him - she would have tried to get better . She was still trying to find her way up here with one of her usual drug dealers . Maybe cross their trade into Canada and if they were busted , Billy would have gotten hauled to jail along with the bunch of them now almost eighteen .
