have I ever actually talked here about my V3 despair disease headcanons before?? regardless, here they are again:

Kaede Akamatsu + crying disease: Rather than inspiring others with optimism, she is now reduced to tears at the drop of a hat. Lots of tears and wailing are involved unless her mouth is occupied with a lollipop or a piece of gum. In other words, she's baby.

Rantaro Amami + lovesick disease: Sort of like a love potion; he will fall for anyone within a certain radius of him. He's far more physically affectionate and flirty, and there's a constant blush on his face.

Ryoma Hoshi + hothead disease: Instead of being cool and calm, he is fired up 24/7 and will challenge anyone near him to some sort of competition (usually tennis related). He burns out just as fast, but he's more eager to compete.

Kirumi Toujo + lazy disease: Self-explanatory; she becomes a slob and pawns off work on other people while complaining. Definitely the most whiplash-y of them all.

Angie Yonaga + nerd disease: She becomes a self-sufficient know-it-all who insists there's a rational explanation for everything and pridefully takes credit for everything without a word of thanks to her God.

Himiko Yumeno + panic disease: Freaks out over everything, contrary to her usual attitude of "nyeh... whatever." She is unable to relax or rest because everything is so much.

Tenko Chabashira + sleepy disease: Always sleepy or about to fall asleep. Cannot fight men, yell at men, or love girls because she is suddenly and devotedly in love with sleep.

Korekiyo Shinguji + misanthrope disease: He hates human beings now and becomes more of a shut-in than usual. It's in direct contrast with his talent, so he's understandably disturbed and wants to find a way to get rid of the stupid disease soon.

Miu Iruma + religious disease: She becomes religious, believing in her creations as miracles of God rather than scientific expansion, and turns far more prudish compared to her usual state, praying frantically to absolve her past self of sin.

Gonta Gokuhara + skeptic disease: Does not believe anything that comes out of anyone's mouth, no matter how reliable they are. Essentially a 180 degree switch from how gullible he usually is.

Kiibo + evil disease: As a robot, he can't get normal diseases, so he just gets infected with a straight up evil virus.

Kokichi Ouma + obedience disease: YES this is based off of grayimperia’s fic (If It’s Real To You) that used this idea - he cannot refuse an order once someone gives it to him. They tell him to quit lying? He has to. They tell him to help them and stop goofing off? He has to. He is automatically bound to the order and has no autonomy relating to the order until whoever ordered him rescinds it.

Kaito Momota + honesty disease: This surprises everyone bc forreal, they all expected Ouma to get hit with it. But nope! Kaito is no longer able to lie about when he doesn't know something, when he's scared of something, or when he's tired and doesn't want to talk. His hero facade takes a deep hit and he fucking hates it.

Maki Harukawa + pacifist disease: She preaches nonviolence. It's nice at first, since she isn't threatening anyone or pulling out knives or trying to choke Ouma, but it gets annoying and weird when she starts getting passionately anti-war at every meal when someone has to use a fork or knife against the food.

Tsumugi Shirogane + prep disease: She becomes a prep. Not like Junko, but an actual normie who hates anime and thinks otakus are cringe shit. She's vibrant and loud and noticeable and it's the weirdest crap anyone's seen from someone who looks like a prudish librarian.

Shuichi Saihara + loudmouth disease: Fairly simple. The quiet, thoughtful detective is now unable to keep anything to himself. All of his logical musings, self-loathing tendencies, and sarcastic thoughts come tumbling out regardless of whether he wants them to or not and he is mortified.

my own headcanon of drv3 is that it takes place several decades after the real killing games, and anyone can apply to hopes peak now. tsumugi just decided to kidnap her classmates and force them into a killing game because thats what happened to 'true' ultimate.
