My crack V3 theory from a long time [I have since moved onto better heights (??)] was that the audition tapes were actually sent in by the cringy middle school versions of the MCs — Shuichi, Kaede and Kaito were the only ones who looked basically the same in their last year of middle school as the year they graduated high school cause they were early bloomers for puberty or something — to a random shady corp they all shrugged off as being a sham later, and subsequently got kidnapped by wayyy after.
All of them were just emo kids who blew their angst out of proportion and signed shady papers to participate in a death game, then forgot about it later on.
Tsumugi was just a random girl who looked for a summer job, was a fujoshi writer, and got hired by the same shady corp to do cosplays.
It’s so weird to me that even in the demo, Rantaro did not participate in the trial.
It was a pretty big indicator to many who played it that he was probably going to die first, so why did they do it this way?
At first, I thought maybe they didn’t want to make the extra art for him, but Makoto and Hajime got their own art, so that can’t be the reason.
Even in the DR1 demo, both Mukuro (as Junko) and Sayaka participated in the demo trial—two characters who, like Rantaro, died in the first chapter.
Sure, the whole gimmick in the demo was that there were ‘too few seats,’ and two people had to sit out, but why was Rantaro chosen as one of them? Kiibo being chosen makes sense, as his exclusion from things happens multiple times in the actual game, but why avocado boy? They writers could’ve chosen anyone.
So is there some reason his character absolutely cannot participate in a trial?
(Ik this observation is a bit meta-game-ey but I still thought it was worth acknowledging. You can watch a play through of the demo here https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2JX5gCM-DwY)
Theory on Korekiyo Shinguji’s relationship with his sister
ok so- I just finished chapter 3 on danganronpa v3 and I have some thoughts on korekiyo’s sister that I have to share. This is a bit long so just skip if you dont want to read.
But trust me, this will prolly blow ur mind so u should read it if ure a fan of dangan
In the trial when kiyo is starting to lose it, his sister apears and tells him to calm down and keep his composure, that he shouldnt show emotion at all. He of course agrees with it and calms down. Throughout the trial she ends up apearing more already at the end and she seems to be controlling him and motivating him on it
At the end, in the execution, when kiyo is raising to the skies to meet his sister, monokuma exorcizes him with salt and his fucking sister does the same Wich kills him the second time
So this leads me to believe him and his sister didnt have a love relationship but rather a toxic/unhealthy sibling relationship. Where kiyo mistook her tirany and hate as love for him, while she only wanted to control him, her being the older sister
And many people use this in the pre-game au where they make him a depressed character because of his sister being a big bitch, him denying that she hates him or doesnt love him
so, according to my logic
He didnt have an incest relationship at all
his sister was toxic to him and he mistook that as love
that can explain why they had to “hide” their love. she didnt act like when she acted with kiyo around other people to not raise suspicions
And maybe the reason why he is connected to ropes or shibari is maybe because his sister would hit him or punish him when he did something wrong
DISCLAIMER: I’m not hating on anyone for shipping this, I don’t mind what people ship. I’m just giving my general view on the dynamics of the relationship itself.
I personally don’t think Himiko and Tenko is a good ship at all.
Himiko didn’t really care for Tenko. Up until she died, she didn’t care much for her. She had a childish view of life, until the people who catered for her (Tenko and Angie) passed away. They were no longer there to do things for her, she could no longer be lazy, she had no choice but to forcibly change because she realised she took Tenko for granted.
Now, if she was with Tenko in that mindset, where she realised that she was taking her for granted and changed, that would be fine.
But if Tenko didn’t die and they did survive together, Himiko would still be taking advantage of her and be taking her for granted. The love is completely one-sided, I just don’t think that’s a good atmosphere for a relationship.
I think it would be nice if it did work, Tenko would be happy. But Himiko would be happy for a completely different reason, not because she loves Tenko, but because Tenko would be fulfilling her needs and Tenko gives her what she wants, like a child would think. A child takes things for granted when a person is always there for them (actually I think that can be said for a lot of adults too) but when it’s gone, suddenly they seem to care, because they realised that the things that the person did for them were actually special. That’s how Himiko thought when Tenko and Angie were alive, and I don’t think that’s healthy or good for a relationship.
So... we know for a fact that kaede dies in the game after being executed in chapter 1 right? well the same thing happened in SDR2 whne they died but because they were inmersed on VR they were able to be rescued. What if in an ultimate troll Kodaka moment they all wake up alive and well?
I made a list of my theories for who will be the victims, the killers, my reasoning for it, and who I think the survivors will be!
Case: 1
Victim: Shuichi Saihara
Killer: Ryoma Hoshi
Reasoning: Ryoma is shady af and Shuichi has been shown off way too much. I think Ouma is way too important to be a victim since he’s new, whereas we already had Kirigiri and Chiaki who were detective-like characters. And as far as Ryoma goes, if past Danganronpas are any hints (aka Hifumi, Teruteru and Daisuke) than dis bitch gon die.
Case: 2
Victim: Korekiyo Shinguji
Killer: Tsumugi Shirogane
Reasoning: Because I am 100% certain that this guy ain’t a killer. He’s way too beautiful and lovely and shady but I guess too shady to be a killer? Idk man. Also his cosplay would be bomb af and as ultimate cosplayer, I can see Tsumugi going all out. Her talent is way too good for her not to be a murderer, and if she’s true to form, she should be able to pull off Korekiyo.
Case: 3
Victim: Kaito Momota and Himiko Yumeno
Killer: Rantaro Amami
Reasoning: Kyoko and Nagito’s lovechild is bound to die. No strong reason for picking these two as victims, aside from it being the third case so definitely getting two victims, and I’m guessing Rantaro is gonna be gritty af.
Case: 4
Victim: Maki Harukawa
Killer: Tenko Chabashira
Reasoning: Complete accident. I think Tenko will either get tricked into it, or it will be a horrible accident. So Tenko either doesn’t know about it fully, or she’ll be so ashamed and upset that she tries to cover it up. I do not think Tenko will be the killer of a man, because that’s way too obvious, and it’s much better for it to be a heartache moment when she accidentally kills another woman. I thought Maki would be a perfect candidate for this, since she is definitely a fan favorite so it would be that much more heart wrenching.
Case: 5
Victim: Gonta Gokuhara
Killer: Kirumi Tojo
Reasoning: Though I doubt that there will be more than four ordinary cases with no huge twist, per usual, I really do see Kirumi as one of the killers, and Gonta as a victim. I don’t see either of them making out of the game alive, so I guess they’re just expendables.
Survivors: Kaede Akamatsu, Ouma Kokichi, Angie Yonaga and Miu Irumi, and Kiibo.
Kaede, because duh,
Ouma because he’s way too important and new. I think either Ouma will be a survivor, Togami-esqe style, or he’ll be the last victim.
Miu, because she’s my favorite character, damnit!
Angie because there’s always a weird one.
Kiibo because even though I doubt he’ll live, I ran out of ideas and I really do want my robot son to live.
Mastermind: Junko Enoshima, because when isn’t it? Or a crazed Junko fanatic. Perhaps Nagito Komaeda, trying to recreate the same despair and hope that he once felt. Maybe Monaca is back from space. Who fuckings knows, man. It has got to have something to do with Junko, though. There’s no way in fuck that it doesn’t.
Anyway, this is all speculation. Can’t wait to see if I’m wrong or not!
So I always thought the names in the dialogue box were based on Shuichi’s perspective. In other words, if Shuichi knows who’s talking, then the name is specified, but if he doesn’t know, then it shows up as “???”
But if that’s the case, then why wouldn’t the name be specified here?
This whole scene in Kaede’s lab is supposed to be Shuichi revisiting her in his memories. If this ‘ghost girl’ is a projection of his memories, then he should have no problem recognizing it as Kaede.
Hell, even if this ‘ghost girl’ is a real ghost, he should still recognize it as Kaede’s ghost, right?
So why doesn’t he?
Is that not Kaede?
And along the same lines...
Why is Shuichi’s name the only one obscured here?
Is it because Shuichi has difficulty thinking that he himself would say those kinds of things, but has less of a problem imagining the other two doing so? Considering Shuichi’s relationship with Kaede and Kaito, I kinda have a hard time believing that...
There’s also the possibility that the “???” names aren’t based on Shuichi’s perspective, but on our perspective as the audience. So if the character isn’t clear or is unknown to the audience, their name would be read as “???”
This would then imply that the “ghost girl” is not Kaede, and the boy in the audition tape is not Shuichi... But then, it would also suggest that the audition tape Kaito and Kaede are the real ones...
