“We need more Male SA rep!!” When yall couldn’t handle when ANY of the men in Danganronpa got SAed.
You all claim that the SA rep is important in fandoms such as Danganronpa but the moment it came to the male characters I’ve noticed that they don’t have their sympathy, empathy or any of the above. They get joked about, ignored, or even victim blamed- even by the creators of the franchise itself.
When Ryota was SAed by Mikan, majority of the fandom found RYOTA to be at fault. It was RYOTAS fault because he made the brainwashing video, it was RYOTAS fault because she didn’t push her off- those and more are things people have said in an attempt to victim blame a fully canon sexual assault scene in the show. And when they weren’t victim blaming, they were excusing the actions of the assaulter. “She has SA trauma!” “She was brainwashed!” “It wasn’t her fault!” All of the above. For reasons I will NEVER understand.
But when they weren’t doing either of THOSE, they were joking. Making fun of his trauma in the future arc. He saw Tengan touch Kyokos hand and him, feeling panicked as it was an non consensual touch, one he was familiar with, immediately panicked and asked if it was “sexual harassment” simply from that touch alone. It was played off as some sort of joke, even more so in the manga. Like “haha silly little Mitarai, it’s not sexual assault you’re just being daft!”. It’s awful how his SA was portrayed and it’s even MORE awful how the fandom sees it. Borderline disgusting, even.
And then we have the implied male SA victims. Ryoma, as an example. In some form of event, Shuichi asks “should we take off our clothes?” (I don’t know what the event was but I’m sure he had reason for saying that.. I hope). To which Ryoma responds with “Stop. I’m having flashbacks from prison.”

This, started a line of jokes that I will forever and always find gross. “Ryoma dropped the soap hahahah!” it’s implied this poor man was RAPED, if not SAed, and you’re over here laughing. Making jokes. What a disgusting thing to do. And what disgusts me is that if it was a character like, I don’t know, Miu who said that- you guys would go WILD. You would scream, sob, call her your “baby” and treat her SA like an actual problem that should be addressed and empathised. But because it was Ryoma, a funny looking character who is male, it’s seen as a funny joke. Really.
I’m not sure if there are other characters- like Korekiyo, I don’t know if he is an SA victim or otherwise. But either way I hate how people joke about his incest relationship with his sister. That too, is disgustingly vile.
And before I get these degenerates come up here all like “Oh it’s just fiction you’re being dramatic!!” when it comes to serious topics such as SA in fiction it is NOT something to be taken lightly or joked about. As an SA victim myself it is OFFENSIVE and NASTY. You guys cannot handle male SA victims and it shows, heavily.
