Village Life

It’s been years since Professor Glenn Sparks & I collaborated on our research and book “Refrigerator Rights: Creating Connections and Restoring Relationships” we continue to be amazed at the ongoing relevance of our social isolation crisis. We have reached epidemic levels made plain in the statistics on depression, suicides, addictions and even fueling the rigid inflexible thinking severing interpersonal relationships. Intolerance and group hostility are the direct result of losing our connections. I surely wish there was some overarching strategy to reverse the trend, but for the time being, nothing else comes to mind other than individual and small group initiatives aimed at creating connections. Psychologist Susan Pinker advocates for Village Life and I surely agree that this is our path, which can begin small and spread.
