Dry Falls Dry Falls, Washington is a 3.5-mile-long, and 400-foot-tall section of the Channeled Scablands, where it is estimated that 65 mph flood waters came rushing over the top from the Glacial Lake Missoula, every time the ice dam broke. The flood waters that flowed through this region would put parts of Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon hundreds of feet underwater for several days as the water slowly drained into the Columbia River Gorge and eventually out to sea to the Astoria Fan. Once all the water had drained, these falls would become dry once again, waiting for the next flooding event. -EF Image credits: EF
