Haruki: So bad day at work, huh?
Soleum: -In the tone of someone who has seen the face of a flayed demon and is now heavily dissociating- I've never been more scared in my life. (′д`;;;)
Haruki: ...There there.
Breaking News: Perfectly Normal Traveling Korean Salaryman Has a Meet Cute with Perfectly Normal Local Detective!
[Spring Before the Rain]
They first met when Kojima was kind of having a real bad time because of plot-relevant reasons and just straight up spiraling so to avoid having to deal with the whole thing involving his Feelings™ he decided to camp out in the school bathroom. Suddenly, and out of complete nowhere this scrawny and wild-eyed looking first year with leaves in his hair and god-knows how much dirt on his once bright white uniform literally comes sliding in. The two of them stare at each other for a long awkward moment before the other boy (who he eventually comes to learn is named Ishida) offers him the following rush of words:
“Sorry‚ I got thrown off a cliff on my way here. Can I use the mirror and sink while you have your panic attack so I can clean up and not be late to orientation?”
What the actual fuck?
“...Y-Yeah???”
The other proceeded to smile beatifically at him as he offered a chipper word of thanks and then proceeded to ramble on about something the other hadn't the slightest presence of mind to even begin to parse out but there was something about the sheer absurdity situation coupled with the bespectacled boy's nervous-but-bright smile as he chattered along that settled that darkness deep within and had him slowly unclenching his hands so when the morning bell rang and the other hurriedly snagged it to haul him along he didn't even protest.
(They were still late to their first day and had received quite the earful from their new homeroom teacher but as he focused on the taller boy beside of him as opposed to his usual modus operandi of nodding along and appearing contrite to appease the irate authority figure he found that couldn't really bring himself to really care.)
