The slim phone was slid back into the delicate clutch at the sight of the familiar brunette hair. “You’re late.” Serena stated with a frown. Was this going to be like years ago when Lukas would occasionally ask her to look after his siblings? Laken was only two years younger than Serena and had always gotten offended when her brother would dare to do such a thing. Tonight she was sure Laken would absolutely see this as Serena babysitting her. Instead this was for everyone’s protection. The masquerade might be shown to the public as a ball for Arthur who hoped to be mayor. But she knew the guest list included Scarlet Syndicate members as well as innocent neutral citizens. How she hoped that the Syndicate had enough morals to not set off a trap when innocent bystanders could be hurt.

The night was still young and Jackson had managed to drink his body weight in liquors in a matter of a few hours. Dressed as a cowboy he only found it suiting that he played the part, hell he even had two real guns holstered at his hip as he wandered drunkenly down the street to the next bar to his next dose of alcohol. On his way towards one of the partying buildings serving copious amount of alcohol he ended up bashing shoulders with someone else. “whoa whoa, watch where you’re goin’, dicklips,” he snapped grabbing them by the arm to force them to turn and look at him, “y’gonna apologize?”

The effect of the surrounding hedge walls on fire gave the impression that one was trapped in a burning inferno. Logically there had to be a way out of here though. They were not trapped. But, the explosion had pushed Serena off her feet and caused her head to slam into a bench. A dull wailing could be heard in the depths of her head. Squeezing her eyes shut, Serena tried to block out the smoke that was pushing into her lungs and had her doubled over in a coughing fit. A pair of dark shoes appeared in front of her. He looked familiar, but Serena couldn’t place him besides belonging to the Scarlet Syndicate. “Bastard. What did you do?” She growled darkly.

There was an aurora about the room that was almost impossible to miss, like the air was still and stagnant. Like it was just begging for a single spark to light everyone’s temperament on fire. The enemies in the room played nice, for the humans that moved around them unaware, but Blake couldn’t help but toy with the beading on her dress as she stared around the room. “Think you could swipe a bottle from the bar? I need more alcohol to deal with all of this.”

"Where the hell am I -- is that a bathtub?” Jackson of course had gotten himself too lost in Arthur’s big beautiful estate. He had gotten tired of the boring gab and trifles of other people, dealing with conversations he wasn’t interested in was not his forte. So he excused himself and had found himself wandering the halls with a bottle of scotch under his arm. Now he stumbled upon a bathtub. A very nice one and he’d be damned if he didn’t try it out. Stripping butt naked and letting the water fill up the tub. Heroin was his drug of choice, not a huge fan of coke and weed didn’t do much for him. Naked, sitting in a nice hot tub he wrapped a band around his arm and injected himself. Around the time he finished up he heard the door open and a woman walk into the bathroom.

“Oh. It’s you,” a sharp smile spread across his face, “Care to join me, dear?”
