I was actually really proud of myself today because I dealt with a horrible situation in a rush without bursting into tears and while standing my ground. Yes, I'll remake your drink and not argue with you that your drink has been sitting there for a long time and I've called it out various times ("But it has no name on it!" lady, if I call it out and no one gets it, it's safe to assume it's for you- and it's not my responsibility to get your name on that cup, I did not call the line and I'm not at the register), but after the remake, you still whine to me over something I couldn't control, I'm done with you because I'm wasting product because you stared at YOUR tall skinny vanilla latte at the hand-off plane for ten minutes.
I've gotten pretty strict on bar- I don't give customers free things, I will tell them: "You have to pay for that." (to which someone responded: "just a little..." and I responded: "it's not my rule, it's because we need it for inventory"). NOPE.
It was just a chaotic morning. A girl in training was on front register for the first morning and a lot of cups weren't marked or were marked twice or marked wrong, but I handled it pretty well. I could never get mad at a mistake made while someone's in training, because I remember what it was like when I was new- and I felt like shit when my coworkers acted like I should know everything so fast.
