Bronycon 2018 report
You know the drill by now, got up early, got ready and headed out. registered and did some origami while waiting for the vendors hall to open, saw some pretty decent cosplayers, while waiting Cheese sandwich, a hippy pony, and Vegita, as the first few panels weren't that interesting to me, so I spent the first few hours shopping. Traded a samurai helmet for a starlight sticker from artstfilmer, a unicorn for a cup from villenesque, a pinkie poster for something(can't read my notes on that ) from dshou and kpon. Saw more cosplayers Capper, Sunset shimmer, Thorax, Link, and applebloom, The first panel I actually went to was about cosplaying and how to understand the community, and your cosplaying family member, and it only had a few people in the audience I only went to pick up a few notes for my younger brother, though it was interesting, I didn't stay for the whole thing and went back to the vendors hall This time around I traded a dragon for a Philomena poster from thebreadbox bunch/ drake blue, a starlight luggage tag for a jet from torben goldmun arts n prints, discord poster for a dragon from mad munchkin, , and a flower for a discord button, from ilovekimpossible (the last 2 I have recently stumbled across their youtube accounts) After talking to a vendor at BB's art boutique about a pikapool poster I had and showing him the the picture of the poster that I had on my phone that had the business card on it (b2easy55) he asked me who was my favorite pony and when I said Twilight, how gave a plushy of her, what a nice guy. At midnight premiere I traded a unicorn for a small bronycon mascot poster. After shopping i headed off to "the ponies court" it was fairly crowded and the it was a good hour all told,the Bailiff was shining armor, judge was starlight, and discord was discord. there were 3 cases, 1: Trixie vs diamond tiara (reckless endagerment, trixi got off on a legal loophole), 2: iron will vs thorax (asult, convicted), and 3: pinkie vs pinkie vs pinkie vs pinkie (id theft, solved) managed to ask a question during the pinkie trial, I asked "discord where were you ion the night in question" trying to drag him in as cloning pinkie and leaving her to run amok is about as chaotic as you can get, he responded "on the servers where else" After the panel I wandered off to a swag trade but there was nothing there that I liked so back to the vendors hall I went, A twixie/starlight button for a walrus from out of work derpy, a spike and twilight poster for a dog from annakitsun, a horse for a pinkie birthday card from zee illustrated, a pinkie button and a capper button for a dragon and an otter from scarlet spectrum a luna poster for another otter from aphex angel, and during a last minute dash to see if i could get one last trade in i started my shpeal and the vendor (who I had to look at the card in the package to find his name) gave me a pile of posters for free, thank you fearingfun. At the closing ceremonies there were the ever present balloons that everyone one always batted around, and annoyingly enough there was a bit of confusion on how the lines were supposed to go, so the last 1/4 of the line got in just in time to hear that next year brony cony will be a 4 day con, but it will be the last one. I have been to bronycon every year since it came to my home town, and sine it will be on the week before tishabav, i will not be able to see it go, this year ha5 about 5500 attendees and I guess that to people who run the on want to go out with a bang not a whimper. So while a productive and entertaining con, it ended on a bitter sweet note.
