Many minor manga characters don't translate as well when the series is made into an anime, and even fewer still translate well into live action. Yukihito Yashiro, or Du Jin in the live action version, is the rare exception to the rule. And not only that... he's always been awesome.
What makes Yashiro an awesome character isn't simply his support of Ren. Its the way he supports Ren's feelings for Kyoko too. Without Yashiro, Ren may have never admitted that even had feelings for Kyoko, not to mention pursue them. Yashiro has a genuine want to see his friend happy, which turns him into the most fanboy-like shipper you can possibly imagine, armed with an arsenal of expressions and inner-monologues that are guaranteed to make you laugh. We love him because he means well, and the few times that he plots or schemes, his ideas are always good-natured, and his intentions are always pure.
