Before you could all jump into conclusions, please hear out the positive side of Rodrigo Duterte’s term in the future (there is too much negativity). This is going my last post about the Philippine elections.
Filipinos seemed to see Singapore as their ‘ideal’ country. Hearing some conversions like: I wish the Philippines would be like Singapore, I wish this country would be as clean as Singapore, and etc.
Guess what? It is possible.
People are scared because of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, they call him a murderer, rapist, and a dictator. Put that all aside and take a look at Davao, the people are disciplined and the city is very progressive. Davao was once called ‘No man’s land’ but when Duterte sat as the Mayor of Davao things changed positively. I’m going to give him justice.
First of all about him being degrading women, he was willing to give his life in exchange of the Australian woman’s life to the murderers/rapists; if Duterte didn’t kill the them then Duterte and the woman would not live to see another day; also another fact he was the first mayor to implement The Women Development Code and he is an advocate of women’s rights.
He would not kill without any reason if he sees a great a reason to do so then he would; in bible it says in the 10 commandments ‘thou shall not kill’ which in fact truly wrong, Duterte broke the Divine Law. If we are being biblical here, king David of Israel killed a lot of people (more than Duterte) in his time he also he is a strong believer of God. God made him king of Israel, remember that God is 1. Omni-potent (all powerful) 2. Omni-scient (all knowing) 3. Omni-present (he is everywhere). If God knows that David would commit mortal sins (adultery and killing) wouldn’t he not appoint David to be the king of Israel?
Duterte being a dictator. Giving discipline does not always equal to being an authoritarian. Lee Kuan Yew, Singapore’s first prime minister, said “The Philippines needs more discipline than democracy.” Don’t be afraid to get disciplined, because it is for our own good and it shapes us to be a better citizen our country. Tough discipline does not mean no freedom.
The hidden wealth, seriously? he has already proven to be innocent.
He has a heart as soft as a marshmallow. He cried in front of his parents’ grave asking for their help especially his mother (tabangi ko ma; help me ma). He is definitely a mama’s boy.
He deeply cares all the children from their health to their security. He treats them like his own. He cried when the children (with cancer) showed their love and appreciation to their beloved Mayor.
He cried in front of a million people supporting him.
He bravely stepped away from his podium to show that he isn’t scared of dying, because he believes that if it is written on stone that he would die then he accepts it; he never fears death.
There is a lot to mention.
I may miss some things, but I think this will do enough justice.
In addition to him being a murderer and a dictator, think about this:
During Cory Aquino’s term:
816 desaparecidos (the disappeared, or the victims of enforced disappearances)
135 cases of massacres (including the famous Mendiola carnage and the Hacienda Luisita Massacre)
1,064 victims of summary executions
20,523 victims of illegal arrests and detention; and
1.2 million civilian victims of dislocations due to military operations.
That’s more kills than Duterte’s. This does not really mean I loath her administration, she did good in some way?
Enough about this, must we always focus on the negative side of all the presidents that Philippines has been through? Move on, everything happened in the past had shaped us to be better or worse (depends on what you think).
Quit assuming the rule of our new president would be bloody, because he hasn’t proved himself to be merciless killer he say that he is but he isn’t. At least give him a chance.
Stop saying we’re going to be fucked up, we haven’t experienced his term yet. Do you only consider yourself as a Filipino if Duterte isn’t a president? Do you really want to leave the country without giving him a chance to lead? You think words are enough to predict his term?
Let’s all just accept who are president is, no president is perfect. Who ever won fairly is chosen by God.
Make amends to all our rivals in politics; be a good sport, everybody wants unity in our country.
Let us start the healing process.
To all Duterte haters and filipinos who supported a different candidate out there, we are sorry for all the insults we threw at you. Logically we are just trying to defend our ‘manok’, that’s the same as you. There is no need to continue fighting because it is pointless now that the elections are over.
To our new president, Rodrigo Duterte, congratulations! I wish you well and I hope you would fulfill your promises.
Although not yet officially announced, it’s already obvious ;)
