In the early months of 2020, the National Center on Sexual Exploitation led a group of NGOs from around a dozen countries internationally in a grassroots public advocacy effort in hopes of pressuring payment processing companies to recognize the allegations of abuse and criminality being levied by groups like NCSE against pornography websites and cut ties with them. In December 2020, in the wake of that campaign and a public awareness boost from an Opinion article about Pornhub by Nicholas Kristof in the New York Times, both Visa and Mastercard announced their intentions to end their work with Pornhub.

Mind you, what was written was an opinion article. No sources. No credibility. Just someone’s opinion. Little to no sources or statistics. Yeah, 118 cases of illegal content had been found on pornhub... but they don’t mention or even so much as bother to investigate Facebook which has allegedly had over 80 million and accounted for over 90% of CSEM and sexual abuse reports and whose algorithm may actually aid in keeping abuse hidden and unreportable.

Why do you like the robin hood ascetic?

Aesthetic? I assume from the just the folklore aspect of it all and the concept of its central themes are what you’re asking about... so...

The reason, over all, why I love the whole “Robin Hood” thing is because they are a group that have - realistically - no reason to be connected at all.

They’re from different places, different walks of life, with different upbringings, different goals, different skills... etc.

They have no business being a group at all, it was all... circumstances (those circumstances actually just being Robin himself) that brought them together.

And in grouping together become much more than the sum of their parts... through everything Robin Hood and the Merry Men (Maid Marian included) choose to do what is right... not because it’s easy, not because of a reward, but because it is simply right and nothing more.

Simply put:

Take one part found family, add a sprinkle of self-sacrifice, a smidge of hero complex, a dash of strong competent female characterization, with a lovely cherry on top made from conscious moral actions of helping those in need and fighting imperialism.
