First feis since the Oireachtas this weekend and can 100% positively say I am nowhere near ready 😅 #fakeittillyoumakeit

I will be honest. I expected the worst for 2016. I thought that there was no way in hell I could outdo myself from 2015. I had ups and downs. I competed at my very first world championships, something I had dreamed of since I was 5. I had huge goal of recalling at my first worlds, but got injured in late February. I was unable to do any soft shoe until two days before I danced, and missed the the recall by one place.

Moving onto nationals I was scared shitless. Senior ladies group is absolutely unbelievable and I thought I had no chance in hell. I was honestly just hoping to be in the top 30, and after a fall in my set dance I thought that wasn’t even possible. I somehow managed to still place 18 and qualify for the world championships.

Oireachtas was tough for my this year. I was so absolutely down on myself. I thought that I would never be able to outdo the second place I had gotten last year. Moving into the senior ladies category was scary not only because of the caliber of dancing but the increase in competitors. I went in realizing that there was a good chance I wouldn't be in the top 10, not to mention top 5 again. I wasn't sure if I was good enough, but in the back of my mind I knew that I could do it, even if I never admitted it. I ended up 2nd in one of the hardest regions, in arguably the toughest age group in Irish dancing. I was among ladies who are top 10 in the world.

My point with this post is that anything is possible. You have to work your ass off and you have to believe in yourself, but it’s possible. Sometimes things won't go your way, but it's what you do with your failures that will make you successful. Some people thought 2015 was a fluke for me. Maybe just a run of good luck. 2016 proved that I am someone to look out for. I will make a name for myself in this sport. I’m excited to see how the new year goes, and you better believe I will work my hardest for Dublin. 2017, I’m coming straight at you ✨
