Last run of the year before the bike gets taken off the road for hibernation. If the roads are dry and there is no salt down I will always try to have one last run on the road.

Ducati 749r, 3rd April 2023.
Sun was out today so I wheeled the R out of the garage and gave it a quick once over. Panels off to check for leaks before starting. I didn’t use it at all last year so going to make the effort to ride a few miles on the road this year. MOT soon then tax and insurance. Had a little ECU niggle for a while causing a fan issue. Got a fresh ECU ready to be flashed with the DP map so that’ll be going in at some point.

Not been outside for the last six months but here it is ready for the UK roadworthy test (MOT) on Friday. Pleased to say it passed and was ridden today for 50 miles to bed the new packing in the exhaust in and fire some fresh fuel through the cylinders. I love this bike!
Ride you must! said Yoda, so ride I did.
Dry this evening so a run out for the sake of it for the first time in a long time. Still a little chilly but Herefordshire is a lovely part of the world to be.

Front end back in. I love the amount of OEM carbon fibre on this bike, full fairings, belt covers and front and rear fenders. The Ohlins suspension is also standard fitment along with the four pad Brembo calipers.

Starting to go back together. Cleaning parts as I go.
Front sprocket and clutch slave de-greased. Few parts ordered for that end of the drivetrain. Fresh retaining washer for the front sprocket to replace the battered one on there. Have also been chasing a small leak from that area but never found it. Assuming the O-rings on the clutch slave and push rod are tired so got those on the way too.
This bike gets ridden through the summer and although it is fairly clean it does have a few signs of wear such as on the cylinder head covers, bottom yolk and swinging arm. Nothing I am too bothered by though.

It’s the start of winter here in UK and that means salt on the roads. Having just taken the 749 off the road for the next six months I decided that I would go slightly deeper with the hibernation prep.
I’ve not done many miles this year on it but the gunk and grime still accumulate. A full strip down to just the frame, engine and swing arm to get into all the nooks and crannies.
Once done it will have fresh oil and filter and everything lubed. It will get brimmed with fresh fuel to prevent any moisture in the tank and go onto trickle charge until the sun comes out in spring.
