Mills Mansion-Staatsburgh State Historic Site, Dutchess County, New York
In 1792, Morgan Lewis, the Governor of New York, bought the estate of the present Mills Mansion, which sat on 334 acres of land. In 1890, Ruth Livingston Mills, the great-granddaughter of Lewis, inherited the Staatsburgh New York property. At the time, it was a 25- room mansion sitting on 342 acres of land. Mills Mansion, as it came to be known, was one of several homes that the Mills family owned and maintained in the Hudson valley area.
By 1890, Ruth Mills had become one of the prominent women of the Gilded Age and was known for entertaining lavishly, similar to other women of the prominent and wealthy households of the time.

Ironically, the Mills Mansion was not considered commodious and lavish enough for the Gilded Age society. In 1894, Ruth and her husband, philanthropist Ogden Mills, hired an architect to design a more prestigious home.

The Mills Mansion is listed as a New York State Historic Site and is considered to be one of the great remaining symbols of Gilded Age architecture.

100-year-old barn home gets restored to its former glory in Dutchess County

She needed to get out of the city. Every once in a while, the buildings started to close in around her And she needed to get away. So she cleaned off the bike, bundled up and braved the crisp January weather to head north- upstate.
The long drive away from the hustle and bustle, the never ending noise and the people was great for thinking and putting everything into perspective. So much had happened in the last month that it was hard to decompress and digest it all.
By the time she reached the old Kelly house, she’d formed a plan. It wasn’t a solid one, but it was a start. JJ followed the familiar road, lost in though as she neared the house.
It would be good to see it again- especially since she’d been gone for so long. She had more questions than answers at this point- even SHIELD had come up pretty empty handed when it came to answering her questions. She couldn’t say she was overly surprised.
3 years and four months. Completely non-existent. As far as she was concerned- the time had elapsed in a matter of seconds- not so for the rest of the world. Would anyone be at the house? She’d been unable to find Mike. His last known location was of course classified. Another unshocking discovery.
The bike coasted down the driveway, JJ breaking and flipping down the kickstand before hopping off and pulling her helmet from her head, her cheeks numb from the ride. She stood there, taking in her surroundings. Dead bare trees, drive unplowed and covered in about three inches of snow. Walk and stairs undisturbed. Again... she shouldn’t have been surprised. Maybe disappointed fit better.
Still- standing out in the cold was accomplishing nothing. She might as well head inside.
DOCTOR WHO-Themed Restaurant, The Pandorica, Opens Near NYC
OK, now this is a place I must visit! A new restaurant called The Pandorica– yep, just like the one that served at the Doctor’s prison– opened outside New York City a few weeks ago, and as you could guess, it is Doctor Who-themed! And kind of has just about all any Whovian could ask for in such a restaurant.
