Heya! I'm curious as to what made you break up with Sherlock? I'm just an the start of season 3 so, IDK, I'd like to hear your thoughts as to how it fucked up, it seemed to go over my head and I wanna know if I missed something
Part of it admittedly was fandom going out of control as well as the showrunners, but I fell out of love really fast with the portrayal of Holmes as a vain, non-social, pretentious jackass only redeemed by his genius (I am a big fan of the original canon, in which Holmes, while weird and eccentric and sometimes unsociable, is generally a polite and empathetic person), and I was really just frustrated by the treatment of Irene Adler, one of the few people in canon to ever outsmart sherlock holmes, and how she was broken down to another accessory for him to seem great compared to. It just got incredibly annoying to watch after awhile, especially since I started watching Elementary around the same time and it feels like so much of a truer essence of Holmes to me, even if the Sherlock showrunners like to say theirs is much more accurate. In my opinion, they’re just enjoying the lazy writing of writing a jackass white man who’s worshipped for their intellect and faces very few repercussions.
