Today’s anime cat of the day is: Duclis from Slayers Revolution!
Slayers Week Week 1: Pokota
Bonus: first art I managed to accomplish after my seizure.
Slayers Week 2/Day 2: Villians (Duclis/Zanaffar)
Went with combo of both Revo anime and manga end in which Duclis slowly morphs more into his Zanaffar form. While losing most of his memories, he still roams the wilds until the day humans repeat their own mistake.
The Zanaffar itself has a downgrade in appearance compared to the one we saw in season 1. It's not terrible, it's just not that menacing.
Oh yeah, Seiruun has defensive weapons called Jillas Cannons now. I'm glad our boy finally got a little recognition.
You know what IS terrible though? Centaur Duclis. Why did that need to be a thing? What was the point of Duclis first being seemingly mortally wounded and about to be consumed, admitting his regrets and that the Zanaffar Armor has been slowly corrupting him for years, and using his last amounts of free will to help destroy Zanaffar -- just for him to survive in this stupid permanent fugly fusion form, beg Pokota to kill him and have Pokota refuse because of their friendship, and then be told that his real punishment is that he's going to have to wander the world alone for the rest of his life and then never appear in the anime again? It's clumsy storytelling and poor character development, and it feels like the writers weren't actually sure WHAT they wanted to do with him.
Anyway, that's about all for Revolution. Time to start Evolution-R and pull apart the plot holes there.
I want to like Duclis, because he's a kitty, but I just don't. He's not likeable.
Hey, is that because he's not REALLY a Beast Man and is just a gross human dude shoved into a kitty's body?
Does anyone know why Duclis' human form is so different in the manga compared to the anime? they look like completely different characters...
