I haven’t seen much of anything in the last, oh, 7-9 months. That sucks in part because it means I haven’t been engaging with/contributing to a community I care very much about, but also because it means I’m not inspired/don’t have time/don’t have the energy to do so.

I feel super distant from all my art friends. I miss them terribly, I’m watching them all create such beautiful beautiful things, and I just wanna be there with them again.

2018 is coming up and Griffin McElroy has left us with words of wisdom and hope

I’ve seen a lot of talk about some of the scenes in The Ancient Magus Bride that people are uncomfortable with, and while I’m not claiming to be an expert, I do have some thoughts to share and consider.

As far as Elias not allowing Chise to go out without him, I truly feel this is mostly out of concern for her safety. She’s been spirited away by numerous Fae simply because of her curious and trusting nature. I would also personally worry about sending her off on her own. More than that, though, Chise is prone to overdoing it and expending too much energy, something not even Ruth can stop her from doing.

To be fair, we’ve only seen her truly overuse her powers in the graveyard, but it took a lot for Elias to stop her then. I can imagine the most pressing matter on his mind is the constant worrying about her keeping to her limits.

Of course I could be wrong, but I truly feel the only reason he doesn’t want her to leave his side is honestly for her safety and well-being.

The YouTube Rewind is supposed to be a summary showcase of what Creators achieved in that calendar year, as well as incorporating major mood-setting themes from outside media (TV, Movies, Music) but not in a way that overshadows the Creators. In years past, the Rewind has been focused on celebrating the accomplishments and contributions of the "best" Creators of the year into one 7-minute product. This year, the Rewind almost seemed like an afterthought, like maybe nobody started working on it until a few weeks ago. The music was not cohesive at all - the sound design was abysmal to say the least. The video was too fast-paced to even take in what was going on outside of slime, fidget spinners, and the Paul brothers, which is honestly disprespectful to all those who were included. Additionally, the oversight on including major players of 2017 in favor of trying to promote Creators who focus on quantity over quality is ultimately not going to help motivate those Creators in question - instead, it's likely going to give them incentive to not consider their quality and continue to strive for a greater quantity. All that said, hopefully the 2018 Rewind has more thought and consideration put into it, otherwise I think this might be the first sign of YouTube no longer being a viable streaming platform.
