with all the back and forth,  she has to wonder whether or not her words are genuine.  she never thought she would see her again,  and she had found a way to accept that  ----  but now that she was here,  back in her life somehow,  she doesn’t know how to feel about anything.  she doesn’t know what to think,  what to trust,  what to expect  ----  and it’s getting under her skin.  ❝  getting used to it,  ❞   she mumbles,  arms crossing over her chest as she looks back up to her.  she’s tired of the act of deflection from her  ----  ironic,  since she’s usually so good at it herself.  ❝   -----  so?  what about now?   ❞

"i guess that would depend on what you mean by 'big problem'," ramona replies, lips curling into a cheerful albeit oblivious smile. she seems far too upbeat for her own good, almost sickly sweet like marzipan cake. "i mean, sure, we all have our big problems, maybe we're in debt, maybe we owe a great favor to someone we know can cut off tongues & bury us in the sea. or, in my case, i have a big vet bill to pay off soon." does that really count as a big problem? for someone as broke as her, yes. "but i'm curious — how big are your problems at the moment?" she tilts her head & rocks back & forth on her heels, whilst swinging her arms slightly.

But in all reality Christophe is actually the best. No one ever listens to me when I get upset, probably because it's admittedly annoying. But he does and even when he doesn't want to listen he knows how to distract me. And we joke like we hate each other but since the beginning we've been best friends and even when he's mean or crude or abrasive it's because he's so damned honest and I need honest to keep myself grounded. Plus he's so strong. Physically, i mean. He's legally disabled and three quarters blind. And he's still a better shot than me, still a better sportsman. And he's strong emotionally. I respect him far too much to go any deeper into it than that but I've never met a braver, stronger, truer man. And he's handsome and so so smart. Smarter than anyone I've met. And funny. I love Christophe.
