hey i saw your fencing tags on that one post and i liked your input! ive been fencing for a number of years now (no comps tho :P ) and had never really learnt any theory, so your words were really interesting!
omg thank you!! i totally didn’t expect anyone to read those tags lol i can’t believe they got reposted HAHA! ive been fencing for ~13 years so i have like a billion opinions about it and i love to talk about it. someone in the replies on that post was like “this isn’t a fencing sword tho” and like yeah i KNOW i just was watching that video and thinking like huh, interesting, but no one does this in the modern iteration of the sport. when i got trained verrrrrry classically as a kid my coach used to make me hold my arm up like that and i would guess they do that for most kids so that they get used to not covering (at least in foil) but most fencers at a high level are just lazy and put their back arm down and smart enough to move it so they don’t get carded for covering target when it matters.
anyway!!! fencing is so cool and i hope ur enjoying it!!! it’s such a dumb sport but i love it w the depths of my soul :’)
