Hera sat in the cockpit of the Ghost, Kanan in the co-pilot seat right beside her. She had taken a few hits, but she knew he had taken more. But they had won. Gotten the full credits she was owed for the job she finished just before they met. And had made it back to the ship more or less no worse for wear. “Are you ok?” The twi’lek started, unsure of how to start telling him the things on her mind. They were close, and getting closer by the day. But she wondered if he realized what he had done.
“I’ve been cheated out of more credits than I care to think about.” Hera started, her voice low in the quiet space around them. “When it’s just you against a whole gang, and you aren’t doing the most legal jobs anyway, you tend to take what you can get and run.” Kanan understood that better than anyone, she knew that already. “But you..you stood up for me.” She hoped the surprise, the wonder in her voice wasn’t insulting in some way. It wasn’t that she didn’t think he would do something like that. No, it was that no one else ever had. He was the first to treat her like she was worth something.
