"Dungeons of Doom" Spins Out From "One World Under Doom"
Marvel Comics has announced a three issue tale exploring the aftermath of One World Under Doom. Dungeons of Doom hails from writers Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Benjamin Percy and artists Carlos Magno, Robert Gill, Justin Mason, and Georges Jeanty.
"With Doom’s castle empty and masterless, the superpowers of the world race to claim and control the untold power and technology that await inside. But when an explosion sends them all plummeting into a dungeon labyrinth that none of them knew was there, what began as an arms race becomes a terrifying game of survival. Who, if any, will survive? And what horrors lie within the DUNGEONS OF DOOM?" (Marvel Comics)
Dungeons of Doom #1 (of 3), featuring a cover by Leinil Francis Yu, goes on sale on January 14, 2026.

Dungeons of Doom
Doctor Doom is dead, his dreary dominion docile and depleted, but left behind are deadly dungeons down in the dark of his domain, and desirous delvers dive deep to devour his dark secrets for their own. And they'll not dare defy what waits in the dungeons of Doom.
Phillip Kennedy Johnson is one of those writers I'll follow just about anywhere because I trust he'll do something interesting, and this was no exception. What starts as a three way battle between the Latverian freedom fighters, the US government and Hydra (with a Wakandan there for good measure) turns into four separate horror stories about what Doctor Doom kept hidden from the rest of the world. And for all that he's a bastard, some of the things he's kept under wraps are much worse than he is. A hammer, a mirror, an eye, a music box, all keep some dark secret, and all are more than capable of murder.
I do want to forewarn you, though: these pages are setup for futures problems in the Marvel universe. There's no big named characters you'd recognize besides Red Hulk, so anyone can die; and because these characters are not the big heroes you'd come to expect, that doesn't necessarily mean they'll win. It's more an introduction to what the heroes will have to face later on, but also giving us some faces and characters of varying degrees of sympathy, and through whom we understand just how vile these monsters are.
I had a great time with this one. The 3-issue run is the perfect length for this kind of series, and whether or not these monsters will be built on doesn't really matter, since the story we already got could be self-contained and just as good. There's no one moment that stands out as great, but there's a lot of things working together that are very good. Give it a read, but go in blind, so you can be shocked and horrified at the dooms that await.
