Nolan hid behind the tent, desperate for Liam not to notice him. He was still shocked to have found his former friend to be the knight behind the black armor. The black armor of the unknown, the hidden, the dark ones. And yet Nolan couldn’t grasp it.

Liam had been his friend, the slightly older boy who had helped him through his drills, who had stood up for him when the bullies accused him of cowardice. Yet here Liam was at the tournament, siding with the dark Wolf knights. The ones their lady had told them were the enemy, following the Wolf king.

He wanted to ask Liam what had happened, but all he could see was the leader of the dark knights comfort Liam in his pain, and it made Nolan wish he’d been there in the dark lord’s place. The boy he’d once known just couldn’t be evil, could he?

I can’t believe I never noticed that in Nolan’s very first scene Liam comes to his rescue on the lacrosse field!!! xD
