These beautiful pens are Parker Striped Duofolds

Parker called the celluloid "Laidtone", not sure what that meant. But goodness, they're pretty! They remind me of modern raden pens. Besides the red/silver and green/brown, there was a blue/silver version and one that was all thin grey stripes, called "shadow wave".

The nibs on mine have seen better days. The green/brown one has got a crack running down from the breather hole and it's pinched on one side. The red/silver one had broken tipping: I replaced it with a spare Sheaffer nib.

They were made the same year: 1941

These two are button fillers: they also came in Vacumatic. Button is not my favorite filling system, but at least it's an easy fix.

One of these days I'll track down a blue one.

Here’s an array of True Blues!

In 1929 Parker introduced one of the most sought after of their low-priced school pens, known today by collectors as the "True Blue." This new slender blue and white swirled Permanite celluloid pen was called the "Three Fifty" in early Parker advertisements and the 1929 Parker catalog. The color was called "Modernistic Blue" in 1929 ads and the 1929 Parker Catalog and "True Blue" in 1930 ads and the 1930 Parker Catalog. The earliest Parker advertisement I could find showing this new pen line is in the May 19, 1929 Pittsburgh Sun-Telegraph. The True Blue does not appear in the 1932 catalog, indicating that the line probably ran from 1929 through 1931.

This is a Classic Pens LS series prototype with a samurai design c. 2001-2005.  The Lambrou Sunami LS Collection was launched in 2001 as artwork done on Parker Duofold Centennial pens and each was a very small edition of about 15 pens in successive designs. The first pen was the LS1 Kirara (geometric) in 2001. That design comprises more than 1,000 individual strips of blue pearl and pure gold by Maki-E master Tatsuya Tōdō. The final pen in the series was the LS12 Shimarisu (chipmunks), released in 2004 with artwork by Maki-E master Shogetsu Mitani. The samurai design shown here is on a Pelikan fountain pen, a prototype for a proposed series of 15 pens. This design was also prototyped on the Parker Duofold Centennial.

This is a Parker Duofold Classic Pens CP5 Modern in sterling silver, released in 1999. The Modern has tapered ends evoking the original streamline Parker Duofold, introduced in 1929. The cap and barrel are engraved in a high relief Fishnet pattern, created on a modern engraving machine, intended to reflect contemporary design, and made from two linear engravings: circular rings counterpointed with a wavy diamond pattern. The pen is fitted with the tapered cap top and emblem featured on the 1996 style modern Duofolds. The nib is an 18 karat gold Parker Duofold banner M medium and the trim is gold plated. The cap band has CP5 and the 500 of 1,888 edition number laser engraved. The edition was limited to 500 pieces, so this pen represents the final number of the edition.
