Pistoia (Tuscany). Bell tower of the cathedral (12th century). It stands on the left side of the Cathedral. Vasari writes that the bell tower is nothing more than the restructuring by the hand of Giovanni Pisano of an ancient Lombard tower. This is also demonstrated by the fact that the tower is unusually separate from the Cathedral of San Zeno and is divided into three overlapping bands characterized by a different style register (from below): Lombard, Pisa, Pisa-Lucca. Architecture is particularly complex.
