Fandom year in review: 16 and 19
16. Favorite m/m ship of the year
Sharkface/Locus has been king of my heart for a long time and it's not going to be unseated anytime soon i think lol :) I did enjoy some new crack ships this year tho- Sharkface and Siris (MaceFace), and thanks to @leonardalphachurch and their villain/mercs? Doc au, FrankFace xD which is super cute and I'm very into it.
19. Fandom that made an unexpected comeback
Strangely enough, Dragon Age. someone started taking about it in a discord and I got nostalgic and decided to give Inquisition another try bc I couldn't figure out where I put my pirated Origins game five hard drives ago lol (old host quit Inquisition cold turkey bc of frustrations with how the writers made everyone be shitty to Sera but I've been managing decent convo options somehow lol also playable qunari fuck yes)
But it's a comfort universe in general and Dragon Age 2 is still best game <3 I don't mind falling back into it

In the originals the director wanted to make freddy a pedophile bc that was the most horrible thing he could think that a person could be but the production company didn't want to outright have a pedophile so he just briefly hints at it in the originals but as far as the director is concerned OG freddy is a pedo too
ohh i wasnt aware of that, interesting. i’ll have to look more into that and read abt it in the future
I'm writing a paper on lesbian fashion and was wondering if you know of any resources I could use as a reference? So far I've gone over what is butch-femme so i guess what I'm asking if you know of any resources that have to do with either modern lesbian fashion (tacky lesbian fashion etc) or the history of lesbian fashion or honestly just anything about lesbians and how we dress and/or why we dress the way we do. I know it's a long shot but I thought I'd try. Thanks!
i dont think i know any sources for this, @butchsunshine?
@duraraross replied to your post “The repeated theme in RvB wrt to female characters isn’t just “women...”
While I agree, I feel the need to mention that a reoccurring theme with Tex is that the director/church kept bringing her back when she didn't want to be brought back and it's portrayed as bad that he kept doing that. Specifically in season 9 when she's talking to church and says "yeah, everybody seems to know what's best for Tex."
Oh, of course. It’s not that male characters aren’t shown to have flaws as well. But it’s worth noting (as @epsilontex also pointed out) that what follows from this is not allowing Tex (either Tex) to move on and have her own story apart from Church, but to write her off. When Tex decides to leave Blood Gulch (and thus, leave Church), she dies. When Epsilon has his epiphany about letting go in season 9, somehow, the outcome is still the same: it’s Tex’s story that ends, Tex who never gets to accomplish her goal (to find the Director), while Epsilon lives on to grow as a character and benefit from this personal epiphany.
Furthermore, this character flaw is framed as specific to Church. York and North, by contrast, are framed as selfless, noble protectors whose perspective is inherently more correct than the irrational, emotional women blinded by their own misguided desires. This pattern with regard to women and their emotions and personal agency can be applied to nearly every major female character on the show. That in itself is worthy of notice.
(I hope it's ok that I'm sending u luckington asks if u want me to stop just say so ;w;) also locus has no idea how to have a conversation like a normal person and the more he tries to talk to wash without sounding dumb the worse it gets. "Agent Washington. Would you. Like to. Engage in. A sparring activity with me?" "Are you asking me out" "what-- NO-- I mean... I don't? Think I am?"
I love getting ship asks!
Locus has 2 modes of flirtation/showing affection: extremely stilted propositions of doing normal things but together (I’m going to make coffee. Do you…want to join me..), and “I will die for you in a heartbeat”
