“Ah.”
With that brief instance of hesitation, the enemy’s blade had promptly seized the opportunity, slicing his cheek with a swift motion, just barely missing a fatal blow due to his quick reflexes. Quickly snapping out of his short daze before any other damage could be done the male hurriedly jumped back, almost losing his balance from the sudden scare as he landed.
“Whoa–careful there! You could have seriously injured my handsome face!”
He watched as her eyes twitched in disbelief and her lips part, as if she was trying to find the words to respond to his actions. Sweat trickled down the side of his face, temporarily ignoring the chaos ensuing around him as he stared back into her wide orbs. He knew what he was doing was absolutely absurd, and for once he would admit his unpleasant ‘comrades’ would be right for once at yelling retorts and insults at him for such behavior; but it wasn’t like he had control over himself at the current moment.
It was just, he was taken aback when their eyes had met.
Finally, he could hear her voice for the first time, though it wasn’t really the most desirable thing to hear from someone he had fallen in love with at first sight.
“Haah? Are you an idiot? Do you know what kind of scenario this is?”
Her features were beginning to better display the growing bewilderment within her form, facepalming with her free hand as she dodged an attacking soldier. It was his turn to show an irked expression, his unexplained infatuation for the woman before him not stopping his usual snarky self.
“Oi lady, don’t you think that’s a little rude to call someone you just met an idiot!–”
”Excuse me, but you…”
Slowly looking back up to meet his gaze as she apologetically interrupted, her eyes narrowed sharply, causing him to flinch unconsciously at such scrutiny. She hadn’t yet noticed the faint blush tinting his complexion.
“Do you realize we’re in a war, dear sir?”
