hi!!! i would love to know a little more about the gorgonia dynasty! who are they and how they still around? are they good or bad? what role do they play outside of dusa’s involvement to hades, etc?
Hi hi! So happy to see interest in this chaotic (no pun intended) bit of worldbuilding. The Gorgonia dynasty is a very rich family of criminals & barely-legal-foot-in-the-door business. They were one of Hades’ first supporters among the old families in Tartarus, and helped the Rhea ‘King’ seize a monopoly on the underworld by eliminating the rest. Where before there had been a hundred petty gens squabbling for gold, now there were only a handful left, and all of them promised Hades allegiance—and a considerable cut of the profits. This is how the Gorgonias kept their control! These days, the heads of the family act as collaborators to Hades, while the children are often favorably employed as fixers to represent Tartarus interests through Gaia (think a mix between spies, diplomats, and thief/assassins).
Dusa’s siblings are all viciously efficient fixers - I’m not sure if that makes them good or bad, though! Are they nice people? Probably not by Olympe standards. But they pretty much embody the par for course in Tartarus. What Dusa feels about them is up to the writer, but one thing is certain: they were never cruel or power-hungry enough to follow in the Gorgonia tradition. As irony would have it, they ended up having a better position than most of them.
