23. How do they respond to difficult social moments?
What makes them consider a social situation difficult?
Owain isn’t good at serious conversation with people he’s not comfortable with tbh !! It’s pretty easy to make him uncomfortable, actually, though he’ll try not to show it ( it’s pretty obvious though ). He generally is able to turn a situation from grim to lighthearted, all-the-while remaining dramatic as hell. He likes to play this characterized version of himself, it’s pretty much his escape from the frustration/discomfort of reality. It’s definitely his safe-zone in the world of death, loss, and war. When he was younger he always wanted to be a hero, because heroes could protect people they cared about. When he couldn’t protect them, though, that’s when he really adopted this persona and began molding himself into this fashion of what he’s really not. If he can act this way, maybe, eventually, he will be.
When people ask him serious questions, seeking serious answers, he’ll often reciprocate with only a fragment of an answer, laced between fancy words and wild theatrics. He has no heart to ignore them, to disappoint them, but he won’t reveal many truths. Hardly to even the people he trusts. Though, it’s most difficult when people can see through his made up facade. That’s the one thing he can’t stand people calling out really, because it means they see him for what he is, and he doesn’t like that. He doesn’t want that. He wants to be portrayed as A) a hero, a person who can stand up, confident, sure of themselves and full of ability and potential, or B) a clumsy actor, always turning any situation into a world of his own. An artistic boy with goofy habits. A person who doesn’t take the world so seriously. The moment people see through that, all comfort goes down the drain. He’s lost his support to lean against.
36. How much do they rely on their minds and intellect,
versus other approaches like relying on instinct, intuition,
faith and spirituality, or emotions? What is their opinion on this?
I think the most often Owain relies on intellect is during battle !! Otherwise, he’s definitely heavy in relying on faith, trust, emotions, and instinct. He’s able to take in his foes, and he’s very skilled in discernment, which makes it easier to read their weaknesses, but he’s also very fluent in empathy, even sympathy, which often outweighs the other, causing Owain to question his morality and whether it is truly worth it to use another’s weakness against them. He has a very hard time in battles against humans, though with Risen he’s generally able to smack them without thinking. He’s familiar with them, and he doesn’t consider killing a Risen to really be taking someone’s life.
Regarding friendships, relationships in general, trust, and acquaintances, he relies VERY much on intuition, emotions, and faith. He is quick to fully invest himself into people, and often very trusting, sometimes to a definite fault. Despite a general knack for intuition regarding people, he will push away bad feelings, bad vibes, and try his hardest to believe the very best in people. So, despite his instinct screaming to run, he would rather suffer through that and carry on a conversation, offering the benefit of the doubt until there is solid proof to prove otherwise.
He honestly doesn’t give it much thought or opinion. He doesn’t pay much attention to these aspects about him, as they’ve always been him, basically, so it’s honestly difficult for him to notice. Regarding these things in others, though, he doesn’t pay it much mind. He knows everyone is different and he respects that ( even if he would become frustrated that suddenly he is only person among his troops considered ‘abnormal.’ Owain is quick to notice certain things about people, but not quick to say anything, or judge them for it. He keeps what he sees in them to himself if only to respect their privacy and maintain a steady companionship. )
